A "handwritten" Eorzean font variation

UPDATES:

I've gone back through the font and fixed some of the issues the original version had. These are, for the most part, rather minor changes but the end result should be a somewhat cleaner looking font. A list of what was done is below:

Change log:
-Moved file hosting to Dropbox
-Adjusted the font's baseline/x-height/cap-height etc. to match that of the template it was originally created in
-Accented characters now made via proper composite glyphs (greater consistency in shape and size, and allows me to add any additional accented characters much more easily for future updates. If there's an accented character you want but I haven't included, let me know)
-horizontally flipped the glyph for "thorn" to stylistically match other Eorzean characters.
-removing the flag/serif from the upper-left of 'M' and 'm' to more closely match the official Eorzean glyph
-revising uppercase 'Z' to more closely match the official Eorzean glyph
-minor shape/size adjustments to some other glyphs that I can't remember individually

To update, you shouldn't have to uninstall the old font first or anything. Windows should ask you if you want to override the existing font when you install the new version, just click 'Yes' and you're good to go.

Oh, and again, make sure to spread it (and the other font) around, post the links in other community sites, etc.

I'd be especially grateful to anyone multilingual who can pass it on to the international communities, and that those communities would be grateful too, since they're the ones who would get the most use out of the extra characters I included.

Just post it in English on the JP cheer YoshiP thread. Most JP players check that thread out so would stand out

I must be doing something wrong. When I try and download it from dropbox it tries to save a file called "EorzeanScript_ttf?token_hash=AAFKDWBBcg_g__lfQAQsqnemMpqMcf4_rnkWqlS2K3RhJA&dl=1" with no file type. This happens in both firefox and explorer (horrible, horrible explorer).

Nah, I wouldn't want to derail a thread with something unrelated. I think what I will do though is make my own threads and just run some text through Google Translate and start off with an apology/disclaimer for each of the languages (JP/German/French), with a link to the original English posts here.

Hmmm... I really don't know, because it's not replicating that for me in either browser. You can't just right-click download directly apparently, so maybe that's it? I will edit my original post to reflect that, even if it's not the issue you're running into it might help others.

I think what I will do though is make my own threads and just run some text through Google Translate and start off with an apology/disclaimer for each of the languages (JP/German/French), with a link to the original English posts here.

then just put your samples you posted in these OP's and you should be good.

As for the title - エオルゼアフォント 手書き (Handwritten) 続けがき (cursive) should do.

Don't want to make thread when you should bet the one getting credit for it

Ah well I just put up the Google version I came up with xD

I took Japanese in high school but I haven't used it since, so I have some minor literacy in it but it never was very much to begin with. I at least caught a couple awkward phrases Google gave me, but I'm sure there's still a lot that isn't very good, but I think they'll understand. Maybe you can tell me how I did lol.

A couple of minor updates to both this font and the cursive font have been done recently. Be sure to check out the changes and grab the most recent versions.

I've also updated the example image for this one as it was very, very outdated, and added samples of accented characters used in words and a demonstration of how crucial kerning is to this font looking its best. Also added an English 'translation' in spoiler tags to aid those who have trouble reading the Eorzean (on the example images in the cursive font's thread too).

Where did the Eorzean numbers cipher go? I wish we had them all in one place.

I know from the old number cipher that this stands for '12', but couldnt remember where I saw it.

They use the text elsewhere too, like in Copperbell Mines, the first basement level is nicknamed "Cellerage", and the 2nd basement level is "C2"
