I have one at work and one at home because I do a lot of typing and then want to come home and type some more \o.O/ I haven't had any problems with it at all.

Oh! The only minus is that there's no separate numpad. that's part of the design (to make it a square instead of a rectangle) But it might irritate people who do a lot of excel spreadsheeting.
Thank you very much. Definitely worth a look. I may well buy one later as I prepare for ARR launch.

Atm my keyboard is the G105. I found it in a store for a nice price, 70% of its normal value. I usually stick to Microsoft's Sidewinder X4. But I am playing FFXIV with my trusty white and black Snakebyte FFXIV controller

I use the G19 because I love the full color display and various apps you can add to it. I'm hoping that FFXIV gets more app support than it's had in the past (can show game stats and such.) I used it mostly for ventrillo in 1.0 to tell who was talking if I didn't recognize a voice.

i do like those logitec keyboards, but the merc allows me more versatility.

honestly though the best thing to do while looking at keyboards is try to find multiple local places you can go and see how the keyboard feels for hand placement. you won't know if it's comfortable until you actually place your hands on a keyboard to see if it fits your hands well or not.

there's the option for the merc so you can compare it with the logitec keyboards.

this is a more inexpensive keyboard by the makers of the merc. i used this board for years before going up to the merc. it has changeable keysets that you can switch from a gaming keyset to a full keyboard. the 2 together for @$50 is a deal. it's especially true while it's on sale for 35 right now.

So true. From thumb to pinky, my hand spread is only 7 inches. So you can see why I'm more comfortable with a keyboard that has been smushed and I use toggles instead of a long row of keys at the top of the board that I can't even reach without completely moving my entire hand.

exactly. i have small hands as well and that's part of why i love the merc setup. it has the big butterfly for movement, but has tons of fully customizable buttons close to it that are quite small so i don't have to move my hands far. it's a huge advantage for me playing fps games because everything is so fast paced.

the point i was making is i wouldn't advise going by what someone else finds to be the best. try to find somewhere that you can actually put your hands on whatever keyboard you have narrowed your search down to. what may fit my hands and needs best does not mean it will fit anyone else's to the same extent. if you see a setup you like the looks of then add it to your list to try, but regardless of how good it looks being able to test it before making a purchase keeps from having issues afterwards.

edit: i just edited to add something when talking about your pinky to thumb spread you mentioned it's 7 inches. my thumb to pinky is 6 1/2. if you look at the picture of the merc you see the big butterfly section on the left side of the board. if you look at the section on the left as a square and go up and down or side to side the spread is a total of 5 inches and the corner to corner spread is 6. that's 34 fully customizable keys within my finger length that i can reach without moving my hand at all.

While you're at it, measure the distance from your eyes to your monitor! And then make sure it meets ergonomic specs!
