Look at the layout again, for the most important buttons (W,A,S,D, etc.) the only alteration to the traditional button layout, is that it's made more ergonomic. It was extremely easy to get used to. The two rows of number keys is also an awesome addition. One of the fantastic things is that for the buttons that are different, some are raised, lowered, or shaped differently, which makes them easy to find even if you normal look at the keyboard when you type.

Using this mouse for 2 months now and other mice just don't move as smooth. Got the keyboard about 2 years ago and it's not showing any signs of wear so far.

I stopped using logitech after they started making all the weird layout changes. Like the neat "let's combine scroll lock and print screen on one key" making taking screenshots in ffxiv impossible. Or the drivers blocking me to use the media keys in foobar2000, so that I either had macros or media keys working. Or, best example yet, changing locale to Japanese crashing the logitech drivers on boot. Logitech [no, thank you].

I didn't hear much good about Razer either, a friend of mine had the whole coating dissolve on him after half a year, it looks like someone went over it with sandpaper.. and it cost him like 120€
I tried the Sidewinder fror a while before I replaced it with my present G110. The keyboard it's self was great, pleasant to type with etc, but what I just couldn't get past was the abominable palm rest which really let it down. A poor piece of ergonomic design which felt cheap and uncomfortable. Even when I replaced it with a Fellows gel wrist rest, I just couldn't ignore it
As a keyboard I would recommend it, however, with only a little more effort on the finishing details they could have produced something much better.

    no logitec for me.

    razor diamondback mouse
    ideazon steelseries merc keyboard

normally i play xiv with my ps3 controller though honestly. the game played much smoother with the controller. i'll test the kb/m method, kb only, and controller in arr though as most mmo's i play with the kb.

Not built for gaming but I can play for a very long time on this and not feel like my fingers are going to turn into claws.

My mouse is built for the same purpose but also is a great gaming mouse. Cursor speed is adjustable too. ^^

    completely agreed here.

it's nice to have the full regular keyboard along with the added gamepad to the side. about the only thing i dislike about the merc so far is the fact that you have to change over to get the numbers or delete to work because like 1 and del are the same key. it's a minor issue as i switched to the merc after my last zboard finally died. that was one board that took some getting use to.

i love both the zboard and the merc because of the butterfly layouts for gaming. it makes life so much better when playing fps games and it's also great for mmo's because you can customize every key on the board to whatever you want.

I need the delete key to get into my BIOS, so yeah, that's a slight issue but it's easy enough to work around.

Thats one thing I like about my g500, the extra buttons are pretty well laid out. 3 by the thumb and 2 by the lmb, plus the wheel L&R buttons. 7 extra buttons shared between your thumb and fingers it works really well.

not to many buttons in one place so easy to hit the right one.

Hmm, I actually love the palm rest, nothing uncomfortable for me. I'd say it differs from person to person.

Interesting keyboard I haven't seen it before. Could you give me a few details on it please. I used to have an old Fellows ergonomic keyboard but that gave up the ghost a couple of years ago. probably the most comfortable keyboard I have used.

It's called Truly Ergonomic (+1 for confidence!) It's mechanical and is fully programmable. It's designed to minimize key reaches (esp. pinky reaches). Also it's built so that your mouse stays close to your keyboard. You can get the keys completely blank if you're going to really personalize it. I have one at work and one at home because I do a lot of typing and then want to come home and type some more \o.O/ I haven't had any problems with it at all.

Oh! The only minus is that there's no separate numpad. that's part of the design (to make it a square instead of a rectangle) But it might irritate people who do a lot of excel spreadsheeting.
