Space is the thing you see above Eorzea when you're walking around outside with your head tilted back right? I dunno I think I'd get agoraphobic and scream "Wanna go home! Wanna go home! Wanna go home! Too much space! It's too big! Wanna go home!" And besides! Bahamut came from space! I don't wanna get eated by space dragons! @.@

I don't see the garleans deciding to let Eorzean use their ship unless there is an expansion that covers what happens after the garlean leaders are defeated and become under the control of three nations. In which case, I would expect we would get access to the empire and they could one day have an event to go to space. But those are very low likelihoods. Not so much the former since that could be a nice way to get the dark knight class unless we meet a roque garlean somewhere willing to teach the way of the dark knight.

From Final Fantasy VII Ultimania Omega:

"Shinra is a boy who supports the Gullwings, the group which the main protagonist, Yuna, belongs to. He carries a name that gives him an association to the Shin-Ra Company, and he is researching a method that could utilize the energy of "the life force that flows through our planet." The results of this cannot be seen in FFX-2, but maybe one day his descendants will establish a "company that supplies the energy of the planet"?"

In the Final Fantasy X-2 Ultimania Kazushige Nojima said the following:

"After quitting the Gullwings, Shinra received enormous financial support from Rin, and began trying to use Vegnagun to siphon Mako Energy from the Farplane. But, he is unable to complete the system for utilizing this energy in his generation, and in the future, when traveling to distant planets becomes possible, the Shin-Ra Company is founded on another world, or something like that....... That would happen about 1000 years after this story, I think."

I was wrong - blah blah blah
I'm sorry - blah blah blah
I still hate this with a passion - blah blah blah

And I'm sorry for taking this thread off topic... If it's any help, I don't wanna go to space in XIV! =D
To be honest, these articles look like better evidence of an homage to FFVII than an actual relationship of continuity. On the other hand you could quite easily argue that all of FF is essentially one game premise that reinvents and reorients itself, and therefore will scarcely ever go without being an homage to itself. That is part of its great fun after all.

Not when it's 'god'-powered, 'chakra'-powered or the like. We still no nothing of Dalamud's "launch" or whether it was summoned into matter into orbit, or whatever other possibilities may exist. We only know that Al'Mhigan technology (which is premised within thought of impression, experience, and generally taken form [if the Monk quests are any clue] paired with decent talent and scale for construction) was used to hone in it on Eorzea. The Garleans still seemed to think of it more like a slowly descending meteor or autonomous battlement than a sealed primal even when Van Darnus set it to drop on us.

I was wondering how long it would take for this to show up.

I feel the same. Not sure if it would be a deal breaker for me, but I would be disappointed.

I would have no problem flying into space, in one of the garlean ships.

But I dont see how useful 'flying' in space would be unless they kind of go kingdom hearts on us... and Erozea isn't finished being discovered so.. lol lots to do on the homeworld

I dont think it would be a problem if introduced over time specially through works of the Allagans who as others mentioned did launch Bahamut into space (so the territory of space is already existing in FFXIV).

I think crazy dimensions would be more useful to introduce first, but if SE did need to introduce a new world like WoW its ready to be used I guess... lol

Personally hoping for a kind of Zeal (floating Islands/continent) - that and once PS4 comes and if they ever stop supporting ps3 they can dezone the game and make it seamless.. Imo a far superior environment immersion (but I get why they had to do it atm, would take too long to develop a nice seamless grid loader)

Ugh learn how to spell? You know there is a spell check that automatically underlines misspelled words o.o

But that would be cool yea! Kind of like FF9 when those 2 battled it out >

Or the story could consist of us "attacking" or "taking over" one of their ships and infiltrating one of their space ships?

Yeaaa again, just a thought, since other FF's have done it and I thought it would def. be cool to put that into an MMO.
