Going into space doesn't really seem like a proper setting for FF14 at the moment, but if we start delving more into the Garlean empire and actually exploring their territory in-game, utilizing their technology, etc., then I could possibly see it happening. It'd just need a good transition from the midly steampunk/pioneer-ish level we've seen so far, in my opinion.

Now, on the other hand, I'd LOVE to see some surrealism stages, like FF9's Memoria, or inside the crystal in FF12, etc. Those kinds of areas were always very memorable and unique, and the developers could go nuts with them... but again, there'd need to be some good transitions storyline-wise.

Dont care if you say Shougun sucks interwebs if you mention FF9 Memoria you get cookies.. lol

Would be unique to see a whole technology shift through the life of FFXIV, like as we are now we start in a steampunk low era but in a few years the cities have vastly changed... I suppose some may tag that as WoW cataclysm but that was more of a sudden event and a natural growth over time would be better - also Death Wing was a push over.. it made no sense he ruined the land that much lol. Illdain could have done more with his pinky.

(Cities dont need to go Zanarkand for us to go into space of course, we could go to Garlean as enemy or ally to some super event, or be summoned, steal ships w.e, just thought showing an actual growth of the cities over time would be something not really focused on in MMOs which claim to be dynamic but really are much more static)

Yes this was just an idea to throw out to Square and see others opinions on it. I had no intention of them, if done, implementing it right away into the game, that would be silly

But yea, just the whole space look in general I think is pretty, if we never go to space, I would be fine with it as long as they did something like when you reach the higher levels of Crystal Tower, they setting resembles that of you floating around in space, just like Memoria from 9, good example ^^
