I preferred Triple Triad! But methinks Tetra Master adds more variety... I actually enjoyed it for the short while it was on PlayOnline!

I'm probbably hoping for too much but part of me wants to see something more akin to magic/ pokemon / yugioh tcg games where you can have multiple different successful builds and more kinds of cards than just the strongest monster card wins.

Methinks making it too complex would draw people away from the actual game, but I might be wrong! I actually doubt they'll add any card game at all, especially in the casino... Imagine if you could play with random PCs wandering around! There'd be so much anger at people losing their cards.
Personally, I find that QQ anger amusing. Maybe thats the troll coming out in me.Methinks making it too complex would draw people away from the actual game, but I might be wrong! If it became that popular they could probbably make physical copies and sell them on the store =PMethinks making it too complex would draw people away from the actual game, but I might be wrong! As for winning/losing cards yeah players would get frustrated with a system like that, losing your entire good set of cards you built up is not fun lol. I would guess that it will work some other way. Like possibly you could buy chips for x gil, which when traded back in are worth less than you paid for them(makes it harder to buy your way to rewards or to make gil from winning). You can gamble your chips in a card game if you win you get yours and your opponent's chips if you lose then you lose your chips. Then you can trade in the chips for rewards, and ofcourse the chips or w/e they would end up being named could be just the general currency for the entire gold saucer like GP.
Would be nice to play outside of the saucer too could maybe just not have any loss or reward meaning a nice chilled out session. edit: Maybe some achievements like played x games to give players some extra incentive.

Could always set up rules with the other player in the pre-game stage, when choosing cards and stuff. Could make it so you could have Trade:None if you lose, like in VIII with Triple Triad. Or Trade:All, Trade:One, etc. Then you could have fun battles all of the time =b

Well, they could always copy Pop-Up Duel from Final Fantasy Fables.

The Youtube video is from FFF: Chocobo Tales for the DS, but it appears to play the same was as the Wii version found in FFF: Chocobo's Dungeon. Choose from one of three cards that are randomly chosen from your hand of cards, I think it a deck was 15 cards, though I may be mistaken. The cards themselves pop up to life for a turn to perform their actions.
There are three phases during a duel, Pop-Up phase, Matching Phase, and End Phase. Pop-Up phase is where you choose one of your three cards, and how quickly you choose would determine your turn, although that could be overridden based on some cards special properties. Matching Phase is where the cards come to life for a turn and perform their actions. It is called matching due to the four sides with circles on each card. All four circles had either a sword, spear, shield, or it was blank. Then it was essentially rock, paper, scissors, with potential status effects and other special attributes/actions which were activated if certain criteria were satisfied. The End Phase arrived at the end of both players' turns, as used cards are converted to a color CP, and returned to the deck. If someone's health reaches zero, the game would be over.
That is just a brief overview of the battle card game that Square has previously used. I actually would like to see a game like this in the Gold Saucer. This would also be one of the few PVP actives I would actually be interested in, the other one that I can think of at this time being chocobo racing, if they permit direct control of the chocobos that is.
