Pre-orders are open for the game with a projected release of May/June ish.
I heartily approve of this post. Shadowrun (SNES version) is still one of my favourite games of all time - and it was developed in Australia too (by Beam Software in Melbourne, now part of Infrogrammes). Utterly amazing game that is still ahead of it's time, and the Genesis version was equally good. I think I still have my old SNES cart somewhere buried under other games in my cupboard actually.

So many awesome things about the SNES version especially - waking up in a body bag in the morgue and frightening the mortuary workers, finding you've got a ticking time bomb in your head and have 24 hours to find some way to disarm it, infiltrating the vampire nightclub, and, of course, who can forget the game's ad tagline: "Watch your back, shoot straight, and never, EVER, cut a deal with a dragon!"

It's just a shame the planned sequel never materialized (there was a psuedo-sequel on the PS1 called 'Alien Earth' that was apparently developed by the same team, but it had no actual connection to the Shadowrun universe. And the less said of the 360 FPS with the Shadowrun name tacked on the better.

Well at least the guy who helped make the 360 Shadowrun game apologised during the Shadowrun Returns pitch video.

In all seriousness though, the 360 Shadowrun game is an alt-universe game, so thankfully its non-canon to the mainline Shadowrun series.

This year looks to be great for Shadowrun too, Shadowrun Returns, Shadowrun Online - a F2P game made with a budget of at least $550k pledged from kickstarter backers (they are still taking in paypal pledges if you want to help support its development) - and the 5th edition of the pen and paper game all coming out this year.

Ah, also, screens of Shadowrun Returns are surfacing on the net, includind one screenshot of the adventure maker kit they will be packaging with the game.

Shadowrun Returns is available for pre-order btw. Seattle will be the main city upon release, and Berlin will be coming out a short time later.
