Believe me there were plenty of complaints from the first week of 1.0 alpha... why SE went back and looked at them when making ARR.To those of you who do get in.
You better actually play and you better actually report bugs and send in real, solid feedback.
That BS we ended up with in 14......
Can't help but make me think there were a lot of testers, that just did not want to to do their "JOB" remember that.
This is a job. Not a happy, go fun, lucky run around, with your friends, sharing e-peen stories about how you got into beta..
Find the problems, fix the problems, or FFS do NOT sign up for the beta.
There are people who are actually willing to do WORK to help make this game great..
If you are not.. Do NOT sign up..
All this legacy E-peening going around, makes me think a lot of you just want to jump into the server day one and act like you did something.

As someone who was a tester from day 1 of 1.0 Alpha, I can tell you this is most certainly not the case. We posted feedback on threads for each category gameplay, battle UI etc after each 4 hour block of play we got. And yes we posted, there were thousands of posts on each thread. To those of you who do get in.

We all stated on the forums and to everyone who would listen the game was not ready for release an we assumed it was just a rush to get XIV launched before cataclysm.
In fact I still bring it up with a friend who was with me from day one how everyone in the 1.0 testing community was convinced there was another version of the game that would be released which we referred to as the 'Secret Gamescon Edition' (a XIV preview being shown at Gamescon just prior to launch), as none of us could believe that what we were playing would/could be released in the state it was in. (It was so prevalent I'm surprised it never made it to the FFXIV meme thread)
Mistakes were made, changes were made to fix it. Please don't blame a community who tried their best, especially when you have no knowledge of what they did or how they acted.

I was an alpha and beta tester for what is now known as 1.0. As kira said, there were plenty of threads in the then alpha and beta forums about the games problems. We tried, but SE didn't listen.

This. Solace just needs to stop being butthurt cuz he not Legacy.. I can't believe the complaining has already begun.. We haven't even got our invites yet!!
Problem was there were plenty of other players stating "its only beta, it'll get better"....
Really? Were you in closed alpha for 1.0? I remember me and my ls complaining our azzes off, nonstop. (good ole moogle inc days, memories...). We were just shocked that they continued to rush the game to launch in the state it was in. Even moreso I was shocked at the lack of progress that was made from closed alpha to open beta. 1.0 testers had a slew of issues to deal with, practically too many to ensure that they got addressed because response from the dev team was much slower and there wasn't enough time for them, apparently, to get it done ( not to mention being built on a crappy structure for MMOs to begin with).

The real problem is the devs were either high all the time or so defeated they just didn't care. NO matter what the testers say you are supposed to weight every matter and look into what people are talking about. Which in 1.0 beta was NOT done or maybe the entire beta was a waste of everyone's time since the game was in no shape to launch anyway and there was not enough time for them to add anything to make a difference.
Bringing up the 1.0 is futile and pointless because the problems were above and beyond what the testers had any control over. It was all on SE don't even bring up the last pool of testers. That last but is directed at Solace who obviously is so blinded by being jaded didn't notice they was plenty of useful feedback in the 1.0 beta regardless of the forum bickering.

Well said Solace, the whole point of alpha/beta testing is so you test the game, not log in go afk and stand at an aetheryte point for 7 hours while your at school/work etc...the whole point of these tests is you actively participate, feedback etc...you play and get stuck in scenery - feed it back even if 20 other people report the same, you find a mob impervious to your attacks, feed it back. Theres plenty id like to say about alpha but the NDA is in place! To those of you who do get in.

"Your former glories and all the stories, dragged and washed with eager hands..but oh your city lies in dust my friend!"

Solace, just because of that, I'm going to be sure to be happy, go fun, lucky run around with my friends and then e-peen them all over this forum as soon as the NDA is lifted.
