after seeing the ffxiv 1.0 gamepad

    Hi all,

Lately I was looking at gamepads because laying back with my back/neck straight or relaxed is a comfort zone pretty hard to get when you play with keyboard and mouse all crippled towards the screen and keyboard.

Now I saw that there was a Gamepad designed ( longue handles compared to ps3 controller) for ffxiv and I was wondering if they thought about designing a new/better one for ffxiv arr before I actually buy a x360 remote control or similar gamepads?

Btw, I'm gonna get the ps3 version and play with my PC account but might have some friend come to my house and play on his account and both of us play, one on the pc and the other on ps3.

Should I think about buying a keyboard for the ps3 instead of the little sleek keyboard attachement for the ps3 controller and just deal with the fact that it's useless to game "LAN" and invite a friend home even though the game itself plays online?

I thinks it's more of a scare about ps3 version controls beeing awkward and would like to be reassured with buying a gamepad for PC so that I have my comfort position for playing but play it on PC instead of ps3.

Has anyone played with the old gamepad for ffxiv?

If you talking about the SE controller i have and got two there very cheap made to the point that even the drivers themself where useless to make the F- function and make the vibration to work it just give everyone BSOD. The rubber pads where so cheap within 2month of gaming it broke and i had to put in other i had laying around from old controller.

I said hell with it and got myself a xbox 360 wire controller for 25$ and never look back every time i got a 3rd party controller the rubber always broke or the cable themself. if my xbox rubber pads broke you can easy buy new one for 1-3$ online

I have played with many controllers and I wasn't satisfied with them. The official Dualshock 3 controllers do work with Windows 7 if you do some google search and they're great, but personally this is way too much work for me. If you just get a Xbox 360 Controller for Windows (wired or wireless) you'll have no problem installing it (Plug and Play ) and an awesome durability. Mine is 3 years old now and works just fine!

I would definitely recommend the xbox 360 (for 1.0 wired) windows controller. 2.0 will hopefully fix the xbox 360 wireless away function, so if they do you could get the xbox 360 wireless one. All i know for sure is between the wired/wireless version in FFXIV 1.0 you wanted the wired one.

Lol it seem like everywhere here also agree that a xbox controller is the best way to go i'm happy i made the right choice year ago never look back. i got two of the ffxiv controller and they rubber pad just failed on me and before that i had steelseries which also fail on me i never buy controller if there not from Sony or Xbox they just make better quality controller with good rubber pads that you can press on them for 8+hours everyday and they wont fail.

I remember i had PS2 controller with a USB adapter for 3+years in FFXI and it never fail to one day it fall on the ground to hard and broke. I was going to do the same for FFXIV get a ps2 with USB adapter but i found sometime it hard to make the controller work with other games so i said fuck it and got myself a xbox everygame that support xbox it just work without even setting it up so i never look back

If ps3 controller was that easy to set up i would have went with them seeing how i use to PS layout but i got use to xbox pretty quick,.

thanks for your feedback peeps. Guess I'll look into the wired version of the xbox controller as I thought I should. The razor onza seems like the best one I could get, the wired version: http://gamepad-review.toptenreviews.com/

Guess I just hoped a new game-pad went into development.

Like that controller have two more button very good to remap them for let's say get on your chocobo and the other one for press to talk on mumble, vent or ts3 i may get that once i have the money for it

Edit: Ahh reading reviews and people saying the D-pad fails and many issue but it could just be them. i'll still tell you to get a real Xbox 360 controller white or black version.

I personally prefer the Playstation controllers for comfort and they usually don't break down as often as the many cheaper no name brands. But to each thier own.

Hi All, Actually logitech is a better gamepad as you can configure the buttons and best of all you can macro it. For xbox controller you can't. I know this as I have both controllers. Oh yeah, the logitech gamepad worked very very well during version 1.0 of FFXIV.

I've used nothing but the logitech gamepads for XI and XIV and it's the most stable controller that acts pretty much like a playstation controller without being one. I highly recommend them also.
