You could take the development team to the Whistler resorts here in Vancouver, Canada for "research" purposes for the snow regions of the game. While there, make sure to try the treetop canopy ziplining too.

Get some rest, and here's hoping you get some quality vacation time after ARR's launch.

He's a Big boy he will be fineOk, you might think that this is a nonsense thread (maybe it is one but it is not intended to be one! D:> )
I was actually thinking (after reading someone's comment of Yoshi being tired) that indeed I always considered him looking rather tired, exhausted and sometimes as if he forces himself. We can't know if there are any other reasons from his personal life, of course but one possible reason is very likely the huge amount of work. And as we all probably know non-stop work can lead to burn-out, depression, physical damages etc.
I have no insight in Japanese working contexts so please don't put me off as naive because I know it might not be possible. But I really wish that Yoshi would take a nice and restorative vacation after the huge launch of ARR has happened.
Sure, he is the director of FFXIV, so he is in charge of it and has huge responsibilities but he REALLY deserves vacation.
If you guys think (or Yoshi himself) that this can't be done due to responsibilities (and that caring for his health is rather silly - I feel like I'm culting and I think that isn't even a verb...) then see it that way:
If Yoshi overworks then he might drop out someday and cannot return (or at least not until after a long downtime) and we don't know if that would do any good to the game.
Think of how he has made FFXIV into his personal project and changed it so much (to the better, we hope). If he dropped out then who knows how the game will end up. :/ Sure, there are other good producers but I'm very happy with Yoshi atm. A new producer might take the game into a different direction and we wouldn't know if we would like that. I think with Yoshi who cares about the player base in terms of feedback and who seems to care about the >game< (not only about the numbers, because apparently he is a wholehearted gamer as well) we have one of the best producers for this game imho.
This is the rather selfish view on it but maybe it works, too.
I'm basically starting this thread to show some support for Yoshi. If he sees that we want him healthy so he can continue his good work instead of having him burn out then maybe, in case he has some doubts, he's encouraged to take some vacation and is confident not to overwork. Besides maybe it's also a sign that we have some trust in him and his abilities and that we respect him as a person (and not only as a work machine or deliverer of content).
(In case he even sees this. Maybe the comreps can show him...? )
So yeah, I hope you are not too bothered by this. xD I'm just quite worried about his well-being so maybe if he sees some people care, it can cheer him up a bit.

<3 Google translator. I talked to quite a few JP players this way. it's not perfect but it worked most of the time!
English translation:
thank you for posting in our forum!!! it means a lot to us!! all of you deserve a vacation for all the hard work you have put into this game. I am very proud to be a legacy member and a fan of final fantasy XIV!!!

Guy's making MMORPG history over there, busting his team's stones, and working himself to death, and he finds time to talk to the customers and fans who are rooting for him. What a devout. After this game is stable again, I too, vote for everybody getting a break.
Kickstarter anyone? Is that allowed? Someone get on that, because each of us chipping in a few bucks shows the development team we appreciate them. Apart from our monthly subscriptions, of course.... :P
Keep up the great work Yoshida and the whole dev team, come to BC we have the best snowboarding around. I'll supply the lift tickets![]()
