I played all of XIV and for several years on XI using a normal PS2 controller and a simple USB adapter. NO need to worry about drivers or dead controllers mid fight and i never had any problems with the shoulder buttons like i know many xbox gamepad users did.
PS2 USB adapters cost under £5 and are readily available. I assume they would be similarly cheap and easy to purchase wherever you are from.
Question. While you played with a controller on your pc did you at anytime meed your mouse? Because i dont want to feel the lack of a mouse when i play on my ps3 of course i can connect my keyboard for any extra chatting i want to do. & another thing i have a 46inch plasma tv... Is it going to suck playing on a screen that big?I played all of XIV and for several years on XI using a normal PS2 controller and a simple USB adapter. The only time i use my mouse was to change the UI but i bet you once you hit to change the layout you can use the thumbsticks as a mouse.Question. Agree i myself had no issue doing endgame with the controller it was just pain in the ass to get to most of my buff spell that why i just made macros when i was going to do a big WS with STR pot so that did not bug me much seeing how FFXI we use noting but macros lol.Oh wow... maybe they made it so you press you L or R on your controller to toggle between plus's, press up, right, left, down on you d-pad to actually start the move. Or press up, right, left, d-pad to high light the move button and confirm with the x or a button. Both would end complaints that people who use contollers can't play good enough for highlevel end game content, but the former would be best option or best option because we won't need to confirm it.
ya i have a feeling we going to see that video this monday.

I see, makes sense. I hope that pS3 players have no type of disadvantage at end game content/dungeons /pvp

PS3 disadvantage = Addon and can't load that many players/mobs but SE is making a system where it going to load the right mobs so it should not worry seeing how low end pc can't load that many also.

I never used my keyboard except for typing and never needed to use my mouse. A PS3 controller and Xbox 360 controller have same number of buttons so you can easily map all the functions. I personally left off mapping the first/third person camera toggle so I could use my R2 as my push to talk button on voice chat but that is just personal preference.Question. While I personally have never used my TV as my monitor My LS (and main tank) used his 42" TV as a monitor for several months and had no issues with it. (As a side note he uses the same controller setup that I do)
Hmm interesting, i hope an extra 2 inch won't hurt jaja. & if your button layout is most comftt im going to keep that in mind for when the game releases.I never used my keyboard except for typing and never needed to use my mouse. Well it will change a bit as they are actually designing an second action bar layout for controller users (you can kinda see it in the picture here)
Will be interesting to see but we will be able to try it out in phase 3 I believe of beta.
