I haven't signed on to my account management page since like, December and I still got one. Of course, maybe signing on to the forums is enough....
You are correct, Legacy members don't need to sign up for BETA (but they need if they want a PS3 version.) I believe that BETA sign-up is only for people who don't have an account for FFXIV can create a free-to-try account. Those newsletters we got today is supposed to let XI players know they can sign up for that without having FFXIV.I didn't apply for beta because Legacy people don't need to apply. I know that as an account holder, they have my e-mail on file. They probably just send out newsletters to people who have or had accounts. I still get XI newsletters and I deactivated my account YEARS ago. Now, I never participated in Alpha for 1.0, but when I applied for 1.0 beta, I can't remember if had to enter an e-mail. I would imagine so otherwise, how would they contact me if I got in?
E-mail can send you a link to the new beta forums (login required) you download a BETA client from there.
Edit: I can't explain enough because this is the first MMO in the world SE has decided to redo all over again. lol

Ditto ... LOL ...
It was even worst when you checked your email with a cell phone, all I saw was Square Enix for the next few mins. At 3:30am ET, SE's site was "slow" and couldn't download the jpgs. SE did a nice "Feb Fools" on us all.
