    Mob agro from unseeable mobs?

just thought of this in a different thread and thought it might be something cool to post as a separate thread and see if people like it. probably too late for ffxiv, but maybe a expansion back and it's zones or another mmo in future. but any way here it is

all them old school rpg's like final fantasy had a system where you just run and don't see mobs and they just poof aggro you and then you fight. i think a mmo with this system can be a really fun thing to do. it's not been done before that i've seen and i can picture it being lots of fun. yes there should be mobs all over so i don't think we should have a empty world lol. but the majority of it you can aggro all over the respected zones. can be most zones like this, or some. maybe just zones made for grinds or exploring in party mods.

this way they can randomize mobs and battles way more as well, pop any type of mobs any where, can have party groups of mobs without to much work on the outside world having these large groups of mobs set up to attack you. they can just straight up pop up and come at you and/or your party.

we can have cool stuff like gear that speeds up aggro, or lessens it to none at all. tons of farming and gear, potions and food to add to this stuff too. can picture grind parties being really fun like this too. anyone else see this as a pretty cool way to level and go threw zones with parties on way to big NM's or dungeon entrances?

I vote no to Random Encounter.

Edit: Mobs that go invisible are okay.

I believe XI had something like this. In ToAU, while running through zones, you could be attacked by invisible chigoes. The chigoes hid, invisible, in long grass around the zone and you pop up. Didn't like it at all.

Personally I wouldn't like it.. I don't want to be surprise attacked while I am fighting a boss. No thanks.
Also I think it is a very old game model that was only used due to limited resources.
Now we can actually see mobs, which is how it should be imo..
Unless the mob is actually and truly invisible.

They weren't "invisible", you could see them.
You just had to really be paying attention.
    So "hid" yes.
    "Invisible" no..

The thing is while that was the thing to do in old games it would be hard to do here without doing the ffxiii battles like touching a mob and going to a different fight..plus it would be pretty annoying if you where just going some place and you didn't have the "stops random battles" items on hand and have to stop for 10 to 15 fights before you get to where your going....

I think it might be interesting, but only if limited to a few areas or perhaps instances/dungeons. If it were all over the place it'd get annoying real fast.

If I'm reading you correctly, you're sort of taking inspiration from random battles on a world map screen with the whoosh and fade to a separate battle screen with the menus and all that. A more modern example I think would be the Baknamy in XII's Necrohol of Nabudis. At least that's how I envision it might be incorporated into an MMO if it were to happen.

I'd love to see this in dungeons -- instead of having mobs visible, have them on a random encounter basis and to continue in the dungeon you had to kill the mobs. This would stop all those boring dungeon runs where you'd just train everything and wait for it to de-aggro D:

But outside on the main map? I'd vote no D:

Act in such a way that you treat humanity, whether in your own person or in the person of another, always at the same time as an end and never simply as a means

yeah any type of random encounters would be cool like this. maybe even just an item that you can get with a really low drop rate somewhere and if you wear it ..then you get random encounters. items that give faster encounters then other pieces would be nice. this can be the new way to party grind ...since i believe they may have removed it.
