Will the file going to be small a Setup.exe type just like alpha and beta for the client. Then you have to download all the patch anyways so you still going to have the same issue.

bandwidth is awesome with cable internet, contact your local provider for sales and service
1 gig patch is better than 15 gig game download plus we get a physical copy. what if we want to do a fresh pc build you want to download 15-20 gigs again ?
Small .exe usually have downloading which is what we are trying to avoid .
make it an .ISO download at the very least

Also if he got the CE first one he get a discount for ARR versionI would recommend just buying a new physical copy of ARR. Amazon lists the price as $30 + free shipping. Honestly, that price wouldn't be too far off from whatever you were probably willing to pay.
Edit: Unless if you were only expecting to pay a few bucks. In which case, that would be completely unrealistic.![]()

make it an .ISO download at the very leastbut i think at release there going to be a big patch so i guess that would also help you not having to download the full game.

Yes. the small fee will be whatever your local store charges for a copy of the game.
If you need a disc, burn one yourself or buy a new copy- those are your options. Or go to some place that has free wifi and download it there.
If you don't have a fast enough connection to download modern games, you don't have a fast enough connection to play them. FFXIV isn't going to play well on dial-up.

.ISO or not, you are still going to have to install the latest patch after a fresh install which in a few years might as well be a fresh download.
I just have one request in regards to the setup-
Please do not go the TERA route and have the setup client automatically choose a directory for you.
I tried installing TERA the other day and after the download finished I realised that it defaulted/automatically installed it on my localdisk which is a small SSD.. I am sure I am not the only one in this case...
So please don't make this small mistake.
I understand the OPs concerns. Most ISPs place a cap on the amount of data that can be downloaded per month with harsh penalties for going over the cap. So the more you can physically load the lighter the hit on your cap limit. Having said that it is unrealistic to expect SE to provide separate discs to those who purchased copies of version 1.0. At best they might supply us with a discount code to purchase a retail copy. I do not expect it though as there has been no mention of it prior to this. If you are worried about a cap hit just buy the basic retail version. Cost would be less then what most ISPs charge for overages.

Buy a 16GB USB stick.
Go to your local Library/University/Place with highspeed connection.
Download it there, copy it to USB.
Go home and copy that data to your PC.
