1 gig patch is better than 15 gig game download plus we get a physical copy. what if we want to do a fresh pc build you want to download 15-20 gigs again ?

Small .exe usually have downloading which is what we are trying to avoid .

make it an .ISO download at the very least

i see your point but i think at release there going to be a big patch so i guess that would also help you not having to download the full game.

Even if they give you the DVD for free, you still need to download a lot of patches
1. there is only ~4 GB space on the disk
2. There would be only 1 DVD in the box
3. The changes between disk production and final launch would be not on the disk
