I'd assume that auto-grouping would be a voluntary option, too.

I don't know what kind of algorithms Rift used, but when I played a trial of that, once you got in range of a Rift, it would ask you if you want to join a group, then you get auto-grouped somehow.

I think the auto-group of FATE system and the Auto-group feature (for dungeons for example) are 2 different things.

They said that we'll auto-group automaticaly in FATE, but for the feature that will be tested at the end of beta, it will be a voluntary option to find/auto-invite people.

I'm guessing we'll be able to kick them from the party, or else we're also in danger of dragging leechers along. Actually, I can't imagine not having a /kick option. . . .

Or maybe, just maybe, everyone that is participating in the FATE event gets dragged into a single gigantic party
With a variety of sub-parties in case you were in one beforehand but stuff like party-wide effects affects everyone and everyone is treated as being in the same party for whatever it is worth

Perhaps, but I'm not sure how that would stop leeching o_o I mean, in a big party/alliance they could get away with it even easier than, for example, they could during 1.0 caravan. . . . I wonder just how big the "one" party will be, if that indeed is the case. Sounds like fun.

Well in GW2 there was a ranking, so if you joined the event but did nothing, you really got nothing. Not saying it was perfect, but it helps.
