Thus the reason to start a new thread people either did not get the point or just wanted to fight about FFXI vs WOW. Let me make it simple. The elements that made people stay with the original FFXI where lost and never found again in FFXIV. Thus please as a community and development group search hard to find these elements. The loss of experience was just an example not a dead horse to keep kicking.

Such a little thing to get heated over. I read some of the posts in his older thread and wow.. lol.

I just want this game to succeed greatly and I don't think the death penalty is where the game needs work.

Yes “A little pain with your pleasure” was a rehash for the innumerable time about a subject that still brings out the claws and anger in many. The point was to give a critical look at what is to come.

When FFXIV first was released even in the original beta, the players voiced their opinions that it had very little drawn from the original series. As Yoshi P took it over and brought it around to something that was stable and rooted FFXIV has regained a following:

    - Loss of experience as a consequence to death
    - Experience per hour
    - Easy questing
    - Time to endgame play.

These are subjects that go much further than just the immediate pain of losing experience. They are what bound the community together. Like other painful memories of 2004 and prior, these bound people to the linkshells and characters that they played. I want to like my character again and look forward to playing with people that are still around after a year or 5 years.

Without really looking for these keys that bound people I feel we are doomed to keep stabbing in the dark or following the band wagon. I know it hurt but it did far more than just pissing you off and if you left then there where a lot of other options that had fast experience and easy questing with fast gil to be made. The void is still there because even FFXI after WOG became geared too much to the instant gratification and how fast you could get all your jobs capped. In 2004 it took months to level a job and for some it took years. I am not saying take us back to that point, but the pendulum has swung radically the other way with FFXIV.

Sorry to the OP, but was a nightmare to read through. Fixed formatted version; copy paste to original post please.

I don't think the fear (for lack of a better term) of losing XP had anything to do what people I chose to play with. It's a no brainer that if you have the opportunity to play with people that you had a good experience with you'll do so again, but leveling up was such an integral part of FFXI that you basically took what you got in terms of parties so you could progress through the game.

    1. This is a bad topic, you already made one and you didn't get the answer you were looking for
    2. Losing experience is not good and didn't 'bind' you to your character, the longevity of the game and having everything available on one character did
    3. We're not getting experience loss, get over it

Really don't want to argue this topic again, but no one claimed losing exp bound you to your character.
