Primal weapons: to upgrade or not?

I don't know why everyone always wants their old shit to be upgradable. How is that different from (and better than) just getting something new that's better? We know there will eventually be a cap increase, so my advice is don't get too attached to your lv50 gear.

It might be easier from a development standpoint to just update the stats on something rather than modeling new equipment every patch, but at the same time it'll get boring quickly holding on to the same stuff.

I think the only things that should be upgradeable are JSE and Relic weapons.

And it will take just as much forever to upgrade it, you can be sure of that.

Nobody complains when they have to ditch their level 30 gear for level 40 gear, or 40 for 50, etc... so why is it suddenly different when the level cap is increased?

I agree the only thing that would have a upgrade that yoshi-p said was relics. He said one day your Curtana would become a Excalibur. But i also see them doing that for primal weps like releasing a new battle for them at higher level with a upgrade version of the wep or some way to upgrade them.

It took me 10 minutes to get level 40 gear?

It took me 200+ ifirt kills to get them all
It took me 100+ moogle kills to get them all
It took me 100+ garuda kills to get them all
It took me 1000+ runs for DL
It took me 2 months for all relics

I don't think they compare

I get what you're saying, but it's kind of unfair to compare those examples to anything that's in ARR since droprates were made terrible on purpose to extend the content until they could put out something new.

Bosses are going to be guaranteed to drop something every win, regardless if it's something you want. People are going to get geared up much faster and you'll probably have less longing to hold onto gear as new stuff comes out.

Will from what yoshi-p said i think your right even if you don't get anything let's say 30 runs. Yoshi-p said he want to add a system where if you not lucky enough to get a item like darklight you get a lower stats of darklight as reward so even casual players would be gear up.

Superweapons e.g. relics are a reasonable exception to the rule, but anything else... There will be new higher level primal battles and such. Why spend 1000 ifrit kills or whatever BS you have to go through to upgrade your ifrit weapon when you can just get a Titan weapon? The only real reason to me to demand upgrades is vanity- you like the look of the weapon better and want to keep using it. Beyond that, having everything upgradable is silly- As we progress through levels, gear should change along with it- it's supposed to be one of the perks of reaching a new level- getting new gear.

Also, I don't really are how long it took you to get ALL of the weapons. You aren't actually going to use ALL of the moogle/ifrit/garuda weapons. You only got the others for the sake of collecting them all. it doesn't take that much effort to get just one.

Really- what's the difference between doing 1023452 somethings to upgrade your darklight vs doing 1023452 somethings to get a new piece of gear?

I can assure you they will make upgrading relics just as hard if not much harder than actually getting them.
