Easily the best news to come out of SE in a very long time. Materia system was kind of pathetic and poorly managed to begin with. Looking forward to the new changes they have coming -- whatever they may be.

So the dev team changed mind? Time ago Yoshi-P said that the materia system will not change greatly, but they will raise the % of success for multiple meld.
I hope in no more luck system, but in predefinied slot like, normal mode content 1 slot, hard mode same piace but 2 slot, and same with craft, nq 1 slot, hq 2 slot to place materias..

more cryptic dev messages D:/
I want news!!!!!

I'd definitely love to see something like combining materia and rare materia drops.
And I hate to bring up Diablo III because I actually find it quite terrible as a game, but I do like that gem system they have. It's sort of a very long-term goal you can always work on.

I hope its like the Diablo/WoW gem system which is similar to the FF7 meteria system, seemed like a much better way to slot gear and lets you put gems in stuff you get in raids too.

Nah, then crafter's wont be needed don't they? Is fine the way it is suppose to meld in, you do not just simply slot the materia, but you actually have to hammer it in thus melding a materia, not slotting. Just need more innovation to added some flavour.

In most mmos crafters make stater gear or gear thats slightly worse then raid gear and they still could do that.

Not in FFXIV,Best gear is self crafted-self melded materia
go figure other MMOs suck because crafting wasn't really needed till end game, which bores me. At least XIV did it right.

I had an idea to make materia a craft, kind of an combination of enchanter and jewler. FF7 slotted materia btw.
Didnt you post in that thread? Swore you did lol
IMO best gear should come from any source of hard action. Both dungeon and craft.

True, but if someone able to spend time on melding, they be surpassing dropped gear![]()
