This reference almost slipped past me...

Per Fernhawles at this week's blog post:

Recently, I’ve seen several people on the Lodestone forums express how cool it would be if, instead of pics, I could sneak a few music clips up on the blog as well. So, I donned my ninja garb, popped open a bottle of prism powder, and slipped into the shadows of the sound department—destination: FINAL FANTASY XIV sound director Masayoshi Soken's studio.
    Reference:

    and for sound:

Does this mean there will once again be potions and spells that grant invisibility or anti-sound buffs to evade aggro?

    Interested to learn more.

    I thought that too.

Remember sneaking around for the first time trying to get BLU in ffxi. Couldn't have done it without those potions.

It was good to add that dynamic to the quest. Hope they add them.

    lol

    "Pot of Silent Lube"

    Misreading makes me laugh... >.<

I'd be for their return so long as walking and staying out of sight are still also effective.

It would mean going into badass areas compared to yourself you can use the pots, but just a zone your level its pretty safe to go normally.

Hope not. It sucked to be reliant on those to explore in FFXI. And it also precipitates having to create true sight/sound mobs if the developers feel like being dicks.

Suffice to say, the extremes it was taken to in FFXI caused two people I knew to swear to never set foot in the Aht Urghan zones. Don't really want to see that here.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
    * Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)

I'm... guessing you never tried to reach every Aetherial node in 1.0? Sight aggro and sound/true sound indeed exist. Ignoring how certain things aggro could render some of these nodes near impossible to reach.

I have gotten every node in 1.0. Had the title before November. My point stands.

Having to walk to get around aggro is a lot less painful than becoming dependent on consumables. Besides, the only annoying true-anything mobs were the pigs that were 10-40 levels higher than I was at lv50. That's nothing compared to some of the stuff I saw in FFXI over the years.

    Can I brag too?

I touched every node in Coerthas in the first week when XIV launched.

No, that means "welcome to the world of private jokes from FFXI".

You're missing the point. TRUE sight/sound means that mobs can detect you even with invisibility or sneak. Since these effect don't exist in the game, TRUE aggro doesn't exists too.
