    Oh god, i lol'd so hard, i didn't see that one coming.

    But i'm a really good DRG, if that stands for anything. I guess fishing rods just bend a bit too much for my liking.

    ...not that... i'd be huge fan of stiff, non-bending poles, that... um... i'm.. ehh... not really making any progress here. *flees*

    As hilarious as this thread has become, I dare to put it back on track.

    Until further information proves otherwise, I'm assuming that fishing (and mining too) will follow a similar system as does botany, as shown in this video.

    Am I being too presumptuous?

    I do remember Yoshi-P talking about gathering in general, possibly in a Live Letter, and he stated that mining and logging has been revamped, and are quite similar in terms of gameplay. And to be honest, in 1.0, apart from the visuals of the striking gauge, they we're very much alike.

    He did say, that they have some other plans for fishing, and later on announced that all the lures are to begone with, along with all ammunition and projectiles. Though i doubt this has been the only major change to fishing.

    I tried to search that statement, but couldn't find it. Source/link would be great, if anyone finds it.

    I think they said they remaking how fishing works they took our feedback on how we dislike it. IMO i hope they making a better version of FFXI i always enjoy the fact that you was moving the rod and fighting the fish then you press enter and you get it.

    i hope it something like that or better.

    Ok, you got me looking, and I managed to locate this little excerpt in the 3rd live letter.

    We’re going to make sure both crafters and gatherers can be played as proper classes. As for fishing, we’re still working to improve it. Stay tuned!

    Since we’re not able to show you how the fishing system works today, how about I show you some artwork of the upcoming fisher gear?
    From this one can infer that the fishing system will be different from the mining/botany system. I missed that the first time. Unfortunately there is no clue on exactly HOW different it'll be. It may have a similar 'feel', with only a different interface once you activate a node. This would make sense to me.

    I'll shy away from topics such as lure depth or how you 'jiggle' it, lest I plunge the thread back into the same state in which I found it.

    Yeah, that's the one, i was just looking at that, too. Sadly, there's been no new information about fishing after that.

    I'm guessing since there will no longer be an offhand tool for fishing, that it will be very different from mining and botney in it's mechanics.

    Glad I finished my offhand gathering before final save.

    I love fishing and can't wait to see how it works. I hope it is different then going to a spot, cast, and click on a fish I want from a list. I like fishing to be a little challenging. ^^

    Fishing was the 2nd job I got to 50 xD
