    You only back peddle if your back is to the camera while trying holding the back key or pressing back on the analog stick. So to turn around you just turn the camera or turn your character so it's back isn't straight to the camera and you spin around. Makes no difference if you use a controller or keyboard.

    As to the topic at hand, I feel I'm a strange beast as I don't like playing with a controler, but I also don't like the WoW style of things, FFXI made me a keyboard player so I rarely used my mouse to do anything. The freeform movement of XI feels more natural to me than needing to use a mouse to flip my camera, chances are if the controler UI is like what I think it will be then I can just use the controler scheme on my keyboard.

    I never found pressing the * key to be a big issue to allow my free-running, much better than swiping the mouse across my desk at least...

    Thanks. Even though I intend to move to keyboard from having played using a XB360 controller since the launch of 1.0, it would still be nice to have the option.

    I agree OP, back-peddling is lazy and cheap imo but we will be getting the 1.0 movement as an option in ARR I can assure you that.

    I have not heard anything at all about if "Target Lock" is returning or not. I just hope it does. Personally I really liked how character movement and camera controls worked in 1.0 and would like to see them brought back in some similar fashion.

    It should since we knew that alpha is limited with options. I agree with you about character movement.

    I much prefer backsteps (stepping backwards, backpeddling, whatever it's termed). I always thought it was unintuitive how moving backwards would actually make your character turn around and run toward the camera. I got excited to see this change in the preview videos.

    Animation lock or Backpedaling? Can you have Animation Lock with Backpedaling? Can you not Backpedal without Animation Lock? People Complained about animation lock for messing up a lot of their timing. Now people are Complaining about Backpedaling ( In which I don't get what's wrong with it I play Aion with Backpedaling and I don't find myself getting frustrated over it. Then again not everyone is like me so this I have to accept.

    What would be a good compromise so that most people would be happy?
