Not if you play with controller. It will be terrible with controller. Backpedal is more a mouse thing.
If I want to run away with controller, the char should automatic turn around and run away without that I need to turn around the camera first. Have you stoped the time how much it need to turn the camera to 180° with controller?

Because surely we're all used to an usually keyboard/mouse friendly movement control scheme, right?
I think this sucks, too. Being able to run back is a lot better, not to mention it's much nicer on a controller than having to turn your camera around completely in order to run.
Many people have suggested that backpedaling all the time and backpedaling only when locked on as it used to be should be added as options, but it's just turned into a ridiculous and pointless argument/flame war thanks to many of the advocates of the "MMO standard". Like this one I just quoted.
There was a pretty long thread about this already, btw.
Self-loathing is not cool, man. You should try and change such bad habits.

That is a third person shooter. You're talking about a completely different beast altogether. It's like trying to compare apples to staplers.
Having to turn my camera around is something I would obviously expect in that sort of game or in a first person one -controller or keyboard/mouse alike (I'd also rather use the latter in that sort of game if given the option, obviously), but that is not what we're talking about in here.
Next you'll bring an RTS/MOBA as an example? Oh wait, I think some people have already done that...
