articles are not need to be an update...

No matter how easy you all think it would be for them to translate it, or what you think I meant when I said article. It's not going to happen. There is nothing for them to update....they don't even know where the hell they're taking the game right now....do you want them to be like "Hey guys, made it to work today, woohoo, time to get started!"

Cause really, there's nothing other than that for them to say. If Yoshi's letters are as vague as they are with as little as they come out, you think a daily update will make you feel better?

I'm 50/50 on all this, while I realize it takes time to do stuff, also can't help but feel that they have had time, and if whats been added is 100% of what they have done then it will be 2-3 years.

BUT in their defense and a few of the letters and stuff have hinted at this, I think there is alot of PVE material that is done and being worked on as we type, but they are holding back on releasing them untill they work out the bugs and finalize the combat system. No point in adding tons of content for current combat system, if they change 50% or mor of every class out and add more, better for them to focus for when those are done and design the content for those changes and release them when the combat changes go live.

My only hope with the lack of updates is that they are working on something huge and it will take time to get a firm time line in place. I like others have said only play now really to make progress on my ranks so that when the game is turned around I will have a head start but lately I am beginning to get the feeling that it is just not worth it.

This is the same feeling a TON of people are having. SE needs to come out, not with some vague letters, or some two sentence daily updates, but one big one, and outline everything....just like a developer would while the game is being made and in Alpha. They need to put a "release date" on when the game is going to be fixed and what they're doing, what their goals are, and just go from there. That alone would put a lot of people at ease in some sense, and quiet a lot of the others.

Well I don't want them giving exact dats, but a rough estimate with a warnign could change be good, the chirstmas updates were nice that showed, next patch, next few patches and long term goals.

One thing I really would like to see them start to work on is, if they are waiting for PVE for a few months untill combat is fixed, how about adding more to the NPC part of the game, flesh out the outposts as more then a drop in center for quests. Add shops, and class stores and such to them, they already have the buildings. Add the 4th and if it even is one 5th cities, right now the game is too centralized, almost no reason to head to 4th and 5th region or even explore far from camps.

Ok, so we have VERY WELL established there is alot of annoyance from the players atm. This is either from lack/dislike of content, or lack/dislike of communication regarding future plans.

Moving recent national desasters to one side (lets face it, that WILL set back plans, no matter how optomistic). I do think Daily updates would be too much to ask, and personally, very unrealistic. Also, daily updates will make players feel like the progression is slow. "today, we fixed 2 lines of code. Tomorrow, 2 and 1/2"

However, I think weekly updates would be ideal. Not only updates on the latest patch, fixes etc, but of where the dev team is wanting to take this game.
Not only that, but to give the chance for the players to comment (usual forum rules apply of course) on what they think of said updates. EI: has this been asked for before? do we have an extention of this idea for future consideration? etc.

What we need to remember is, not every idea would be implimented, due to either lack of polularity or moving too far from the devs goal, or even too complex to impliment.

with closing, and summerising, regular updates on progress would be nice. both short term goals and long term included. and the chance to allow us (as customers) to give our point of view.

I agree 100% with Belgian and I've been complaining about the same thing. An estimated timeline for the next 6 months or so would be great. When the game is in as bad of a state as this, lack of communication is the prime thing that will cause it to die off. We have no clue what's coming and we have no clue if it'll be good or not. If they told us "hey we have this planned what do you think" MONTHS before they release it they can get our opinion instead of not letting us know until the day beforehand, when they find out we hate it and they have to redo it.

That was what my idea was all about. Keeping the customers updated, and also allowing room for discussion on said future plans. For example, say they intended chocobos to be a lvl 50 prize. I imainge there would be many negative comments.

Chocobos at say lvl 20/25 ish, I would guess this would generally be well recieved.

Of course, an estimate on when such things would be implimented would be VERY important

people needs to stop bashing belgian for the sake of it, he have a solid points. it has really becoming quite aggravating at this point to play when you doesn't hear anything but letter of producer that only says... "well you gotta wait longer teehee ^^"
