Well there aren't many videos that directly showcase a geomancer, as it's a strangely little-known class that seems to have been neglected since the earlier games. Though it is in 3, 5, and Tactics, at least.

http://youtu.be/orjmXtTMG98?t=1m25s <~Not much, but you can at least see the Geomancer attack here? He's the guy with the bells for weapons and dressed in blue.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hba1vz_kjJ4 This guy is soloing the whole game of Tactics as Geomancer.

But really the BEST way to get a grasp for how Geomancer works is to use it yourself. Maybe that's why it's weirdly unpopular...

I love Geomancer, and would love to see it in the game. Though Before that, I'd like Red Mage, Puppetmaster, and Thief. >.>

It has been a while since I've played it, so maybe my memory is a bit fuzzy, but wouldn't Mog from FF VI be a good basic working model for a Geomancer? I know the description I have in an old instruction manual states "By invoking the name of the terrain dance, Mog will be able to attack using the powers of nature." Granted, his special command was Dance, and not Geomancey, but when he fought on different terrain, didn't he learn different terrain dances that he could use regardless of his current battle location or environment. It is this very last part about using it anywhere that I am not certain about, but I thought he could.

Perhaps if they wanted to do a little acknowledgement of the past connection, perhaps they could use Dancer as a class that can eventually be switched to a Geomancer job.

I think taking some aspects on mog from vi is a great idea but i would suggest using Geomancer from tactics as the groundwork.

You should probably leave the thread as you are missing the point. I have posted some ideas for how the job might function in reply to other's posts so please read those before flaming.

Don't forget, Mog from FFVI was a Geomancer as well.

Puppetmaster (as a job) was exclusive to FFXI. That puts it far down on the list of jobs that should be imported to FFXIV.

If they release new jobs in batches, I think the following priority is best:

Set 1 (expansion) - New classes and jobs

    Musketeer > Red Mage
    Tamer > Beastmaster
    Scout > Thief

    Set 2: Second jobs - A

    Gladiator > Dark Knight
    Lancer > Samurai
    Thaumaturge > Sage
    Archer > Ranger

    Set 3: Second jobs - B

    Pugilist > Dancer
    Marauder > Berserker
    Conjurer > Geomancer
    Arcanist > Time Mage

    Set 4: Second jobs - C

    Musketeer > Gambler
    Tamer > Blue Mage
    Scout > Ninja

I'll forever be behind Musketeer -> Red Mage, if only because it'd be something new and could end up being really cool. Good list .

Good point. If one has not played a Geo in an ff title then they should probably do so before posting here. I will be doing some sketches and elaborating on ideas when I get home so stay with me here. Thanks to everyone so far for contributing.

Geomancer as a class in FF14 would be quite welcome in my opinion! Not only does this offer the player a potentially unique experience as a ranged damage dealer, but it would also give further exposure to a lesser explored class in the FF universe.

The unique challenges of the class are ripe with potential for creating a rewarding MMO experience. I hope that the FF11 incarnation will hold strong enough to the core fundamentals of this class (terrain, status effects, SHADOW FLARE!) while operating within the boundaries of class design that make playing these types of games such a joy.
