What I've noticed with THM stats.

Most people on Eorzeapedia have realized spells like XI are elementally based. So I'm thinking with spells people do not stick, (I for one stick Paralyze like crazy, and its Ice based, my Ice stat is my highest), are because they're elements are statted for that particular spell.

my link to paralyze being ice based: http://www.eorzeapedia.com/wiki/en/Ice_%28Attribute%29

I'll list some of these, some of them do need verification, but if true, that would add a whole new level to statting, people who were THM's couldn't retain that orginal idea of "oh i'm a fire THM and that will be useful" lol. Or it could restrengthen this idea with "oh most of my spells are fire based, that I use, so being statted more towared Fire makes sense", both are better than what most people believe now haha

(this mainly applies to enfeebles, scourge I/II, Banish I/II, Bio I/II, DIa I/II and the absorb spells as well as drain and siphon are umbral mostly, with banish and dia being the only astral spells as thm has) The 2nd version of spells are omitted in the list, just assume they are the same. Note the source is eorzeapedia at this time, if someone has a better one let me know. I check all sites wikis, but this and yg are the only ones that seem to go deeper into elemental stuff.
    List of Spells
    Poison-Water
    Gravity-Wind
    Slow-Earth
    Bind-Ice
    Paralyze-Ice
    Silence-Wind
    Flashfreeze-Ice (duh lol)

From this is looks like most of the THM enfeebles are Ice/Wind. Plus ice for Flashfreeze. So if one is using Flashfreeze they should stat ice heavier than wind, and if not wind and ice should be equal, it all depends on the enfeeble.

I've also heard that Earth,Ice,and Water are umbral stats, and Fire,Wind, and Lightning are astral, but recent lore combing sounds like all six elements have both astral and umbral in them. Other than that, we don't have a way to increase astral and umbral affinity.

This is kinda just a THM-elemental discussion, not trying to say one way is better than another, I'd just like to see what people have to say.

Back the the Linkshell Ether was running, a person called Avien Talasi made themselves a reference picture for the elements.

    This is it:

Basically it shows the elemental day and the conquests (Astral) and the submissions (Umbral). If memory serves, and my memory could be wrong, a conquest would cause itself to be more powerful during the astral periods and a submission would cause what it affected to be weaker during an umbral period, with both of these effects being reversed in some manner or other during their out-of-polarity periods.

This was mostly taken with respect to crafting and a recepie's elemental harnessing, but now I'm wondering if their could be a time-of-day affect on these spells as well.

I don't mean to disparage but what exactly is the game showing with respect to elemental affinity and debuffs? Because as far as I know, running most of my time as THM with an even split between all of the Umbral elemental allotment, there was no difference between my Astral and Umbral spells in terms of damage, nor did the spells for which I had affinity for seem to land at a more regular interval than those for which I did not.

    Basically where is the data?

Maybe I'm not trolling hard enough, but I have a hard time finding significant numbers or data to compare and contrast with. Mostly just people noticing less resists with spells they cast of the elements they've alloted the most points to.

Believe those who are seeking the truth. Doubt those who find it.

I hear this frequently ... but my gut feeling is that affinity and INT are damage caps. Therefore increasing one without much damage change doesn't necessarily mean the numbers are broken/useless.

Yeah it just what I've noticed doing some research with other people, I didn't write anything down, but other THMs would complain of not sticking things which I easily stuck so I was wondering what the difference was if we had similar stats and pretty much cookie cutter gear.

I have read a lot of the crafting elemental affinity during times of the day stuff, and I never even thought about applying that to mages that would be too crazy :/

Sorry I haven't posted in a bit, busy week with my Poli Sci 403z and 407b classes :[
