Is there a point in leveling Fisher to 50?

My main goal is to be able to catch +3 Red Corals to make the crap bow. I think r45 fisher will be able to do that. At L45 I will be able to wear the L47 gears(even if I do lose some stats). With so many other jobs that actually need L50 to be more effective, I just can't justify grinding for hours/days with fishing past rank 45 at this point.

But there are plenty of grade 6 waters with no agro mobs around. That's not really an issue.

I would have to say to be ready for future content when it comes out, a raised level cap, new high level fish, etc etc. And perhaps also the ability to catch those grade 5 fishies eaiser xD I have noticed that ever since I reached 50 I am able to catch the black soles with no problem at all.

When you reach 45 and grade 5 give you suck sp and then you want to move to higher grade ( 6 )
You'll find out that grade 6 fishing spots most of them have aggressive mob around and that can kill you with 1 shot =='

Look somewhere else? I have found just as many if not more perfectly safe spots to Fish in G6+, stop looking in the obvious and closer high grade and try, well I don't know, some exploration?

More worse.. when you fishing at grade 6 you'll get fish that likely you can fish at grade 1 or 2. ( it gave low lv fish only )

Yeah, they are placeholder fish until the level cap is increase. Please play a botanist or miner to that rank and then you will have a right to complain.

lol? So apparent the level of the fish is what makes them good? Not what they are used for... Okay.. There are plenty of High Level fish in this game that actually have a use. The ranks of fish match the ranks of players, as is should be.

Wrong again. There are fish in all rank ranges in this game that are worth fishing up. Corals for Arrows and Bows, Fish for Oils, Spearfishing for dye materials and poisons, fishing for repair materials, fishing for food materials and of course fishing for crystals and shards which are used is every damn recipe in the game. (Yes food is weak atm, but it can still be useful even in its broken state)

Also... there's CUL don't play big role in this game so it's no point to fishing much..
except you need it to make crystal/shard for other craft class.

Culinarian does suck at the moment, the one thing I will agree with you on. It's an absolute failure on SE's part for launching the game with the job so screwed up and its even a bigger fail to have 6 months later done absolutely nothing to fix the issues at hand for the job.

But there are plenty of uses for fish other than food.

Rank 50 allows you to have more output, which in turn allows you to have more attempts at grade 5 nodes and below. Also, grade 10 nodes are the best to fish at (Isles of Umbra) because the casts are so easy, you are guaranteed around 300 sp, and practically a guaranteed catch since the fish are only grade 1. With sweat of brow (Rank 25 botany skill), I'd say leveling Fishing to 50 is quick, easy, and profitable. But...that's just me, and I'm working on all my gathering to 50...so....think what you want!

Umm, this is fishing. There are no nodes. You park yourself at a spot and fish for hours. Only significant fish that I need the school of fish for are red and blue corals, but they are both at Cedar Grade 4. Level to 50 because it's easy and quick is not a real reason. Tell me I need r50 fisher to catch the white whale, then I can agree with you. Don't care about money, everybody on the server is a millionaire. Gil is cheaper than dirt in this game.

To be honest it can't be hard for SE to add a few new fish to the grade 6 fishing spots. Come on SE, this is a bit ridiculous !

Someone should perhaps start a petition :P, although considering only 1% of the servers fish it won't get many signatures :P

The problem is if they add new G6 they need to add new recipes, then they need to add new botanist and miner items as well, then new recipes again. Which also means adding in new items and balancing those againt class, rank and other items in game. It more complicate than just "here you go, a Marlin is in game now"

They don't need new fish. The can take Black Sole from the grade 3 water(which it doesn't belong) and put it in grade 6. Toss in some leather and shoe strings, maybe we can fish new boots out of the water. But yeah, it's probably not a high priority. Especially since they've already added all the new shard/crystal recipes.

DOL's are just not a priority on their list currently. Which is sad, yes killing crap is likely to always be the main draw in this an MMO. But if you are going to release a game that allows you to play as a crafter, a fighter/mage and a Gatherer then you should show an equal amount of support to all the three types of gameplay. I understand battle needs alot of work, but at the very lease there should be some comments here and there about the concerns and question from DOLs. They don't need to say it will be fixed asap, but at least let us know what their thoughts are and if anything is going to be done eventually. The only comment that was DOL specific I can recall a response on is gathering fatigue.

Yea, they are optimal for R46. This is the only reason why I ranked to 50.
