I dont like the design one bit, its too human. normal skin color and high heels? really? sorry but it doesnt look one bit like shiva besides the slutty costume (which is good).
The one from the artwork looks much better, pale skin and a darker blue. I hope the change it.
Herethanks for reading.
For those that don't know, ZBrush is a supplumental tool set (though they have been trying to push to becoming a fully fledged, self-contained kit) for 3D modeling primarily used to create normal maps. ZBrush is somewhat unique in that the model behaves more like a lump of clay than a descrete set of polygons.
Rather than adjusting individual verticies or lines or faces of the model (the standard way to manipulate models in Maya or 3DMax), ZBrush lets you sculpt the model as if it were clay or putty (it then behind the scenes calculates what verticies need to go where to make the model you sculpted). It's a much more fluid mode for modeling for anyone who started their career in physical mediums.
There is one serious problem though, the models created by ZBrush are way too complex for any reasonable machine to be able to handle them. This is why it is primarily used for conceptual work and normal maps (color textures that are calculated based off of higher-polygon models which alter the surfaces of a lower-polygon model to give it a more complex appearance than it actually has).
From my casual understanding, colors in ZBrush are purely ascthetic, since they likely will be completely scrapped when the model is converted into a normal map.

She looks wicked awesome. She definitely has that overpowering feel to her and that "Don't mess with me." look. The model is clearly unfinished, can't wait to see it completed.

I think she looks great. It's possible colors will be different but I like what I see. Even if this is the final model, we will have to see how she looks rendered and animated in the game engine with better lighting and effects.
Sometimes I don't understand people.
"Make something different!"
Here, check this out.
"That doesn't look like Shiva, she's supposed to look like this!"
Difference here is, when a lot say "something different" but the series icons are being used, you can't really fault people for saying for example she should have blue skin.

People are entitled to their opinions and I understand Shiva is an FF icon. She can and will evolve though.
Twenty years ago, on 8 and 16 bit machines, making her blue to symbolize cold or icey made sense because it was simple and developers couldn't do a whole lot in terms of graphics.
But today is a different story. Graphics are super detailed and complex. Developers can do pretty amazing things.
Trust me, I totally understand people wanting Shiva to be blue. The character has years of history. But all things change.
Her skin being more pale and white doesn't bother me at all. Ice is not blue. I have not seen her animated or lighted or with whatever effects she might have. If they can make an effect where her skin looks like its coated in ice I think that would look awesome.
To each his own though, this is just my $.02.

For some reason the model they made of Shiva is reminding me of this o.o...

The images are of a a high-res normal-map sculpt.
The colors you see will not be used for her in-game model.
Once the game model is finished, and it it has been given the real-time shaders (including colors/effects), it will look almost exactly like the concept art.
I'm quite pleased with her design~
Could we have a high-res version of the concept art please?

The colors used in the Sculpt (yes, even the hair colors) are just there for the artist to help distinguish between sub-objects, or for a quick reference for review.

Sadly I doubt it'll happen when Yoshi said he's being cautious about this stuff lol. Probably wait till after Beta when they're likely more confident in their material. The last time they released 'HD/higher res/etc" for 1.0 stuff people chastised them for not using all the bells and whistles.Post in here, keep bringing it up:

hmm real time shaders.. That would be neat to to have her sparklingThe images are of a a high-res normal-map sculpt -- it's not textured for in game.

After every Shiva Fight your party will look like you mauled a pixie..
(I like the model too, just doesnt feel very Shiva-y, but as you say there is still loads of ways they can modify the model)
