Sure is a good thing that ARN isn't a job then, innit?Yes, even the early FF games with a job system you had to do some kind of work to unlock them, and no you can't say "but this is FFXIV", it is lazy, but as I've said before, they designed themselves into a corner with the armory system so this fits with that design.
Hopefully SMN makes it worthwhile.
I fully believe this! It's very insightful and logical. I'm curious about Flayer, but thats probably an expansion far far away from now....

Gridania:
- Conjurer Guild
- Archer Guild
- Lancer Guild
Every starting city would have it's own Disciple Of Magic guild and 2 Disciple of War guilds. It's not a 1:1 balance, but it is a proportional balance that makes sense ... and would be extendable to new cities.
Holy City Of Ishgard:
- Mysticist Guild
- Enforcer Guild
- Fencer Guild
Muskateer I would love to see, and being as these to Guilds were mentioned in the game but not implemented always perplexed me! I actually hoped that Marauder would open up Muskateer! Alas, Warrior job disproved this :P

I also looked up the tactics advance iteration of arcanist. Alot of those abilities were sweet but just wouldnt work in an mmo. Gravity and death are too op and the level ? Stuff would just not work. However, drain and syphon are viable. Im thinking scourge and/or banish for an attack spell. Tbh, the way dev's have described the class and from other ff refernces, looks like we're getting old thm back to some extent (pre class adjustment patch).
This imo is great. I loved the old thm, and now we'll have carby to fight alongside too. As for smn who can say since we know so little at this point. Im hoping to see poison, slow, paralyze, sleep?, drain, aspir, some type of bleed stonger than aero, stun, and one MAYBE two attack spells for self defense (shadowflare level 50 spell o.0).
im really excited to see how this job plays (hopefully at some point in beta). im planning on going main arcanist/smn. I just hope they dont make summoner too different from arcanist, like archer to bard.

Maybe Demi instead of Gravity.
Death certainly wouldn't work, since 4sec GCD

Thm has hp and mp recovery skills based on stacking them with the next spell. And they do not "steal" them from the mob they simply add a healing effect. Im talking about a straight drain/aspir spell set. Demi and gravity are just too op to even consider. Seriously, how can you have a spell which automatically takes even 25% of a mob's hp and have it not be op? Only way would be to make it terribly inaccurate to the point no one would use it. Arcanist has haste, however yoshi is apprehensive on implementing it. Not to mention it wouldnt make much sense for a pet/debuff class to have one of the most sought after buffs.
*EDIT whm and blm both have sleep spells. As a debuff class how could you not have sleep lol
