    I also looked up the tactics advance iteration of arcanist. Alot of those abilities were sweet but just wouldnt work in an mmo. Gravity and death are too op and the level ? Stuff would just not work. However, drain and syphon are viable. Im thinking scourge and/or banish for an attack spell. Tbh, the way dev's have described the class and from other ff refernces, looks like we're getting old thm back to some extent (pre class adjustment patch).

    This imo is great. I loved the old thm, and now we'll have carby to fight alongside too. As for smn who can say since we know so little at this point. Im hoping to see poison, slow, paralyze, sleep?, drain, aspir, some type of bleed stonger than aero, stun, and one MAYBE two attack spells for self defense (shadowflare level 50 spell o.0).

    im really excited to see how this job plays (hopefully at some point in beta). im planning on going main arcanist/smn. I just hope they dont make summoner too different from arcanist, like archer to bard.

    well the *problem* is that THM already has HP/MP steal, and sleep skills, so it would be odd if Arcanist got that also.
    Maybe Demi instead of Gravity.
    Death certainly wouldn't work, since 4sec GCD
    I guess we'll know soon:ish

    Actually it's Necrogenesis which heals you based on spell damage and Parsimony that recovers MP based on the spell cast.
    I dare say that Parsimony is not an MP drain because it does not gives you a net gain, it was originally meant to halve the casting cost but they were not able to implement it as such in the 1.0 engine

    It was half mp cost and mp on hit and both of those are skills not spells.

    Thm has hp and mp recovery skills based on stacking them with the next spell. And they do not "steal" them from the mob they simply add a healing effect. Im talking about a straight drain/aspir spell set. Demi and gravity are just too op to even consider. Seriously, how can you have a spell which automatically takes even 25% of a mob's hp and have it not be op? Only way would be to make it terribly inaccurate to the point no one would use it. Arcanist has haste, however yoshi is apprehensive on implementing it. Not to mention it wouldnt make much sense for a pet/debuff class to have one of the most sought after buffs.

    *EDIT whm and blm both have sleep spells. As a debuff class how could you not have sleep lol

    Sleep is not actually a debuff spell and is more of a crowd control spell. As a debuffer you actually are a battle director, whatever you're hitting with your debuffs is more or less tagged as the next target, Sleep is the total opposite of that, thing's tagged as the last target.

    It wouldn't be weird for sleep not to be on the debuffer.

    I see your point, but mine is that (speculation) the arcanist main stat would be pie and magacc. Since sleep is based on magacc it would make sense that arcanist would be able to cast the strongest sleep over whm and blm. They just have the stronger natural talent for it.

    Just thought of this. Arcanist could use sleep as a borrowed class skill. If summoner gets thm to pick from, there you go.

    While they are not nescessarily spells, they are modifiers to the next spell cast.
    I'm just stating what was referred to before when someone said that THM had HP/MP drain, however.

    THEY DO NOT STEAL HP/MP FROM MOBS FFS! They simply give you a return based on how much damage is dealt. I am talking about drain and aspir. You know spells that are in almost every ff? holy crap youre either flaming this thread or just incredibly stupid. Go home.
