    I'll say no to this idea.

    We can already teleport everywhere and summoning just doesn't seem necessary.

    If we could not tp, then I'd say this is a fine idea.

    I'd just rather not have people being so lazy they can't even run across a quarter of a zone and whine for a summon instead.

    I'd just rather not have people being so lazy they don't even know where to find areas of the world because they have been summoned everywhere they traveled.

    There is just too many other negatives and the only positive is travel speed, which is already addressed with teleportation.

    well nice idea, lets use the ingame resorses we have....

    idea: Why no let the summon job has the ability to summon party members...

    note: this ability only works on open wolrd, not in instances. this will give people what they need and has a good potential...

    is a copy pasted idea of Aion...

    but can work pretty well on bases is what this job is suposed to do SUMMON.... soo why no summon his conrrades

    So +1 this. I do think it's a little convoluted though. Why not say have a quest chain to get stone. Requires light group to use and party members must be near stone holder for him to use it, because the do it together to summon the other player.

    I think you're taking the name a bit too literally and broadly in terms of the job concept. By your token, a conjurer would be just as easily able to conjure his party members out from the aether. In either case, it provides a potentially problematic single-class 'perk' (in this case the only perk unrelated to combat with party-wide handiness), and would allow mid-instance summons. The first rarely goes well, and the second remains to be seen. You could say it's handy, or you could say it loses the intensity of fighting your way back to or from the entrance and causes partying to feel more like being sucked into the middle of a setting-less struggle only to port back without ever needing to know where even the entrance is.

    I totally agree with this. I remember being in some PUGS and somebody would die because they ran away from the group and did something stupid. Then scream and yell at the WHM to Raise them! because they didn't want to have to run back. I'm sorry you died because of your own stupidity, why should the WHM leave the group just to pick you up? :P

    My idea was solely for convenience and for parties to fill up faster without waiting for someone to get from point A to point B even with teleporting.

    It's really hard to say how long it will take to join back up with the party from any location in the game, because we don't know what the Aetheryte/node distribution is going to be. And even though we cal teleport FROM anywhere we can't teleport TO anywhere. There is only select locations you can appear at, and unless you have discovered all the Aetheryte locations in the entire game, you can't get everywhere.

    Heck even though I played since beta, I still couldn't pull a party together to help me get some of the Aetheryte locations in the Shroud because it was impossible to get around some of the lvl 60-70 mobs that would 1 hit you! Some you could walk past. But sure, if your talking about end game players they most likely have all the Aetheryte nodes.

    Still gonna say there are going to be some instances where it would be nice to summon a player to a location.

    Secondly, I intended this to be only applicable to the Open world, not instances, dungeons etc. Because I agree it can be abused! Its just hard to hit on all the issues and abuses such a feature would cause. I also expected that there would be a cool down of some sort. but I didn't mention it because I expected it to be debated.

    I wanted to say 15mins, an hour etc, but with such long cool downs that totally defeats the purpose of using the summoning stones for building a party! If the cool down took 15 mins to an hour to be able to use again. You might as well have your other party members walk to you. They would get there faster!

    Lastly I did not know about any perk in Free Companies that would allow you to teleport whenever you want from within the group. I'm still asking for a link see this information, but everybody is standing on their "I know more than you" E-ping podium and not backing their statements up. Oh well.... I'm not going to dispute it because I don't know either way. I just crave the knowledge if it's out there!

    Gotta say I'm shocked by the negative reaction to a positive gameplay element to aide in building parties for this game!
    Are we really that cranky that we don't have a game to play? Or has the forums devolved into being populated by only trolls? :P Sheesh!
