Ugh. I would probably literally /facedesk at that.*Joins raid pt, is already @the camp*
<me>"Hey guys! im here and ready!"
<ldr> "Ok we will BRT. Someone tele us I have 1 anima and im lazy.."
<member>"10 anima.."
<member> "6.."
<member> "..."
<ldr> "Ok kyri can you come tele and get us please? Were too lazy to choco to bluefog. Hurry up!"
<me> "...."
<member> "Oh haaay im stuck by broken water, come get me too! My homepoint is moogle!"
But that was more of a problem with people just burning through their anima without care. SE probably hoped that people would use anima wisely and when necessary, but it turned into a constant source of complaints because a lot of people couldn't/wouldn't ration it.
By the way, very nice signature!
I think there will be areas that you have to walk to. The main stuff youll be able to get to quickly ie raids and FATE and company stuff. I enjoy going to areas that are hard to get to and the navigation has to be precise or your dead and theres no way back unless you wanna walk. teleporting all around is to easy and to be adventure like we cant have teles everywhere there gotta be areas that PISS YOU OFF, otherwise to me anyway it wouldnt be challenging. for some people they wont like the idea and a gonna complain for sure but imo we need more challenges in the game and im not talking just NMs RAIDs Primals as the OP said areas like the jungle or the cauldren man that place pissed me off alot but was fun.
What is with this arbitrary dichotomy? i.e. you must either HAVE TO walk everywhere, or you HAVE TO teleport everywhere; but NOT both.
What happened to having a choice?
Everyone has to visit the places on foot at least once before they can use any kind of teleport function, that is fine by me. However, I detest spending (wasting in fact) hours trudging back and forth across massive expanses to fulfil a simple task, or pick up a small item, only to have to return moments later.
The solution? Give us the option of travelling how we like.
You can give everyone infinite amount of 'Free Teleports' to exact co-ordinates in the world, with zero cool downs and this still does not mean that you have to use it. (I'm NOT suggesting you implement this)
The point is, some people hate wasting a lot of time on travel. Some people like to take the long and scenic route.
Why not cater for both. Allow everyone to have a nice and simple teleport/warp/airship/boat/whatever system in place, and those who prefer to walk can still do so by simply NOT USING THE SYSTEM.

I liked that you could regenerate Anima with items you could gather at the end. I would just tell people who did this to go level a gathering class or buy the items from me in the market and stop being cheap bastards.*Joins raid pt, is already @the camp*

Well, that's not gonna happen, humans are pretty lazy by nature, if they have fast travel, almost no one will go walking, even more if it will be free.
I like XIV 1.0 system though, you have fast transportation to some area, but you have to get there walking first, then when you are in the area you have to walk your way to the location you desire, giving already a nice mix of both.
I'd be happy if they had regional telepoints like XI before they baby-fied everything. It never was too overly far to anything from there save maybe Sky. But was still only a 10-15 minute romp.
Exploration <3
Even Grape Kirby likes exploration.
If they use it, and decide not to walk and take in the delights of the scenic route, then they have no-one to blame but themselves.Well, that's not gonna happen, humans are pretty lazy by nature, if they have fast travel, almost no one will go walking, even more if it will be free.

What it really comes down to, is the hardcore few who want to make it a hardcore many, with no choice in the matter!

I get what you are trying to say but really its not that way. Its -exactly- like what Dannythm said.
If you have an epic hard boss but there is a way to kill him instantly most people are going to do the later route and the boss is a waste and most people WILL bitch.
Instant teleporting "looks" like an extra choice. It is not.
Its one of the reasons, at least in my opinion, that people where so damn impatient in FFXIV. They expected you to be there instantly - I told the party I needed to finish a chain, took 2 minutes, had a person bitching like I walked from Windurst to Bastok and back.
I dont believe in long ass required walks but I think traveling time is good on an immersive level saving the scale of the world, saving the connective-ness (the fact that the world has order that is followed), and also has beneficial social aspects like hold your damn horses lol. Even WoW kids had more patience then the spoonfed teleporters (post-hamlet).
I'm not saying all people didnt have patience, but teleporting reduces the amount of people that would be willing to wait a second.
Though since its a personal experience you could call it a fluke and not causality.. lol
Still, teleporting is not an option. Like certain builds in WoW (talent tree builds) and certain classes in a dungeon. "I want to go this build" "yeah... no, you change or you dont get in".
IMO, the best part about the way they did the obscure lands in FFXI was that you had to travel there on foot multiple times, but there was always a quest to unlock an Item that would eliminate that journey for you.
I completely understand that doing the walk repeatedly is obnoxious after a while. Worse, if there is no way around it the location would be a ghost town. But I would rather have a series of quests in an obscure area to unlock the faster traveling method than always just have an aetheryte waiting.
