You can still play games online that's not linked with psn, like DCU

If its anything like FFXI on 360, SE will probably link your PSN with your SE ID so you can't cheat on trophies by logging into someone else account. They did this on Xbox 360 you had to link your Live account to your POL account and sign in to Live before you could sign in to FFXI so you couldn't cheat on achievements and FFXI achievements were hard to get. When live was down you couldn't play FFXI.

Not 100% true. Once you are logged into FFXI, it runs live service and the Playonline service simultaneously. If you were already in FFXI and XBL goes down, you will still be able to play. However, you're screwed if you decided to /shutdown, because you wouldn't be able to log back in. I'm nearly 90% sure this is why we aren't seeing a port to 360, because of this bypass and truly no need for the XBL service.

No you can't try playing anything online when PSN is down it will prompt you to sign in to PSN and when you try you will get an error that says they are doing maintenance.

That's because they use PSN for their online play. When Xbox live goes down if you're logged into XI you can still play XI just fine, which is why it then get suggested to not log out as you won't be able to log in while it's down.

I've been loggin in PSN for the last year at least straight, and 2 days ago was the only day they had maint that I can even remember, except for the infamous hacker caused outage, I think you're blowing this way out of proportion. I plan to play ps3 most of the time because I love gamepad, but I will have a PC copy ready as well.

can always use gamepad on pc also there going to be using the same UI as ps3 so if ps3 does go down you still can play on pc without issue of learning how to play on it lol.

I guess a quick solution in the future could be a free port from ps3 version to ps4, that would encourage people to buy the ps4 and eventually once everyone that plays on the ps3 has switched to the ps4 they could discontinue the ps3 client and go from there.

Oh that could be fixed if they offer ff14 off psn and let you play it on ps4 with patches specifically for the ps4... but that won't happen at least not for free. I imagine if there really are major limits to in the ps3 like with ff11, then if the player base is big enough, they will sell a port to the ps4...

Well besides MS discussed FFXIV possibilities but there comment was "in a future plan but not for current users".

So I think Xbox 360 is out and the next xbox will be the onl yway sicne it is going to be more open formatted to cross pc play from the start.

SE may make ARR bypass PSN, for those users.
