What's the story behind your character's name?

I'm Spanish and I usually enjoy a smoke while playing (I know, awful habit... Don't smoke, kids!), so I chose the Spanish word for "smoke" (Humo) in the sense of the result of smoking, not the action of smoking itself. I dropped the H 'cause I like short names.
On the other hand, I'm a fan of Icelandic band Sigur Rós and they released a documentary film named "Heima", which translates into "At home", thus UMO HEIMA ("Smoke at home") was born

PS. Once more, kids, smoking is harmful!!!

I used the name "Slice Braver" in a story created to do an amatorial RPG.
Slice because the main character is a swordmaster, Braver from his main virtue and to remember the famous skill from FFVII.

[Kasumuni]

I was sitting in high school in my 3rd year trying to think what I could call my FFXI character. I was playing DOA and used Kasumi quite alot. (obvious choice ). Also was half way through FFX and got Aurons best weapon Masamune,

Combined the 2 names together to Kasumune....but added an 'i' to the end since I was a taru. So Kasumuni....

Everyone called me Kasu or Kas......so I split the name up for FFXIV.

Hence Kasu Muni the Taru

Estelle is a nod to my XI character Stellie, who would've been called Stella or Stellili had they not been taken at the time. Rather than use the exact same name for my XIV lala I thought it would be best to turn a new leaf, what with it being a new world and all, while trying to keep some ties to a game I greatly enjoyed.

Apart from the hair and eye colour, Estelle is designed from head to toe to emulate my XI taru; albeit being derpier than her ancestor. Though that could be arguable lol.

[Luna_the_Lalafell]

The name Luna has the meaning of moon, which is reflected in my characters quiet relaxed personality and reflected in her last name. (The moon is said to guide and pull the tides of the ocean.) My name was also loosely based off of FF10. Yuna, is also a main character in FFX which was my favorite Final Fantasy game and where I was introduced into the series. Ironic, as sometimes in-game people would typo on my name and call me Yuna. Yuna was also a magic wielder in 10. -Minor spoiler alert- Yuna was the high summoner who could wield summons, and one of her companions and another main character in the game was Tidus. I always pronounced his name Tide-us.

This is the back story I had created for My character during the "Team Hair" vs "Team Stache" feud with Krausus Dracul waaay back in My early days with Seraphim on Mysidia.I apologize in advance for the long post.



A long time ago,in a galaxy far far away...That's a different story,for another time.As the story goes, our journey begins in the land of Eorzea off the coast of La Noscea, where the Grimlock family was on vacation.Out at sea on their vessel "Cait sith's Luck" when they where caught in the middle of a terrible storm.The only survivor was the young Grimlock child who was found stranded with the ships wreckage by the Dread Pirate Weasley.Now keep in mind that in those days DPW was a man to be feared,but yet he sensed something in the young lalafell and took him in as part of his crew on "The Pirate Ship Revenge".

Many years are have said to passed and Grimlock had become one of the most respected axe men in all the land.One cold dreary night the pirate ship revenge was attacked by a band of rouge pirates,intent on stealing the ship for themselves.Out of the corner of his eye,Grimlock saw a Roegadyn weilding an axe enter the Captains chambers,fearing He was too late Grimlock rushed in after him where he was greeted with a swing of the axe that cut right through our hero's mighty beard,like a clean shave to the chin.Grimlock watched as what was his beard fell to the floor,then back up...into the assassins eye's.The assasin now frozen in his track's was petrified not only because his blow had missed,but he had revealed the most glorious MOUSTACHE the land had ever known.His gaze was broken only by Grimlock's axe...which now was buried inside of the assassin's skull.Grimlock now rushed over to his captain's side,but it was as he feared the assassin had got to him first,but in his dying breath DPW said to Grimlock"My God,What a glorious stache!!!you shall be feared and respected by all...With that I leave you my ship...CAPTAIN GRIMLOCK" and then he was gone.

Years after assuming command Captan Grimlock discovered a chest in his captain's quarters labeled "Cait Sith's Luck" apon opening the chest he found some remnants of his past,which he had long forgot,including his fathers adventure's journal from the great city of Ul'dah.He thought to Himself..."Now the Adventure begins. Shortly after reaching Ul'dah the Captain partnered with a young Pugilist by the name of David Banner who was growing in reputation as "Hulk" together hulk and the Captain joined the ranks of Seraphim, a prestigious linkshell from what they had heard.Everyone in Seraphim welcomed The Captain with open arms,except one...Krausus Dracul,who hid his jealousy of the Captain because before "THE STACHE" arrived he had the best hair the linkshell ...possibly even all Eorzea. Now there is only one choice left to make;team hair or...
TEAM STACHE!!!

Not much to it.. Pretty random I guess.
I wanted a name with "lyn" in it because of an important person. I've always wanted to use "Isa" for the start of a name.. so they just sort of came together.

Vanille was just a random name I made up ages ago as a nickname because I'm pretty obsessed with anything vanilla. I just like names that end in "e" better than "a."
