What's the story behind your character's name?

[Alhanelem]

Alhanalem and Amidatelion are both major characters of the Yuke tribe in the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles games.

(the Yukes in my sig, which are from a wallpaper, are the ones you play as if you choose to play as a Yuke for the main character in FFCC: Echoes of Time- not Al and Amidatelion)

I have always been a big fan of the Crystal Chronicles series, hoping in vain for a new one to come. not counting TCB and the wiiware games, the Crystal Chronicles series is essentially intended to be what FF would be like if it was a Diablo-style dungeon crawler)

Some additional details:

Path Companion: Jegran (Roegadyn) - The villain in The Crystal Bearers, Jegran is of the Tarutaru-esque Lilty tribe, however he himself is very large and imposing, looks a lot like a Galka or Roegadyn, so that's what I picked to represent him in picking this name.

Chocobo: Denilvort - One of the random names assigned to Yuke citizens in FFCC: My Life as a King.

Retainers:

Meeth (Lalafell) -A member of the Lilty tribe. Like Alhanalem, she is one of your main party memebers in FFCC: Ring of Fates (Though I didn't find her as interesting as Alhanalem).

Waltrill (Roe): A Yuke sage who is one of the (ghostly) members of the Village you start the game at in FFCC: Echoes of Time. He and the rest of the villagers were killed trying to defend a crystal from Larkeous, the game's villain, 1000 years before the events of the game.

[Fatestorm]

Ghaleon was a character from a game from my early boyhood, Lunar: The Silver Star. I loved the game--it remains one of the most epic love stories I remember. And I loved this character of Ghaleon--so cool, so passionate (and religious! ...so to speak).

When I started playing games where you had to create your own persona, I chose to model mine off of Ghaleon. However, I've been playing myself vicariously in these types of games for years and years and years now, and so I'm not really playing 'Ghaleon'--I'm playing myself.

Ghalleon has been my adaptation of Ghaleon to be my vicar in games for a while now. I chose Helseth as my surname in FFXIV because of euphony, and it was a slight nod to another monumental game for me--The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. (It's only a minor character--King Hlaalu Helseth--but like I said, I enjoyed the euphony with Ghalleon).

[Valan]

Story and meaning of ours characters name... Interesting.

Main:
All my main characters in every RPG and MMORPG are named Valan Aradan because Valan is the rough quenya translation of my IR name. Val- from Vala (Valar), -an from anna (gift).
Aradan will be the name of my house in fantasy, tolkien-like world, and it means "man of outer world" . Ar- (outer world), -adan from edain (man).
Companion: a female lalafell conjured named "shantotto" . Trivial choice but I like "shantotto" in Dissidia FF
Chocobo: "chupathing" from red vs blue (bow chika bow wow)

Alt1: Sarah Dòxa
In a old RPG forum Sarah is the gender-bender version of Valan. Sarah is a random name. Dòxa in philosophy is the false opinion, the error, the opposite of episteme http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doxa because she isn't a real woman but pretends to be it.

Alt2: Kalana Green
A simple name with a stupid meaning. Kalana mean "green" in quenya (or Sindarin. I don't remember). Green... Is green. She is a miqo'te with green fur. So... nomen omen

i named my guy bender rodriguez after, well, bender bending rodriguez in futurama. i had to change it when the servers merged, so i named him bender themagnificent, lol

[Altera]

I took my name from the anime Birdy the Mighty. Birdy's last name is Cephon, and she is an Alteran race.
So i just took her race, removed the N in AlteraN, and used Birdys last name.
And I just felt it had a nice ring to it when pronounced XD

I love exotic-yet-simple-sounding names, and wanted to have an easter egg-like reference to myself in it through initials (in this case, the initials spelling out "me") or a play on my rl name, etc.

Masa's name was supposed to be Masaya, meaning "happy" in my family's Filipino language, but with the whole First/Last Name thing goin on, I shortened it to Masa to keep it simple for everyone.

After, I realized the Masa is a part of a bunch of male Japanese names, so I was all, "Well, awesome then. " Multiple meanings!

Eriza is a play on my own last name.

My alternates are nothing as serious. Maya, Olan, Yuuma, Tohwa are just names I like.

[Losnol]

Well. Losna is a variation from Losnol (basicaly, on portuguese -- I'm brazilian so I speak portuguese. PS: Not "brazilian" or spanish like some ppl think >_< -- the letter "O "or some variation stands for male and "A" stands for female noun).

Losnol is my rl nickname (well. Some strange name that a gym instructor of a friend of my cousin invented for him. And then he start talking with my cousin by that name and my cousin started to call me by that name too. IDK what was on the mind of the instructor to invent that strange name T.T), and I wanted to do a female nickname for a female char. So I've changed the "OL" to "A" (as I've explained before).

Then I realized that Losna stands for Losna - Artemisia (cientific name for a type of a plant). I've tried then "Losna Artemisia", but there was already that name (then I thought - who would put that name on a character? O_o'). So I've tried Losna Artemisian and then it was ok!

Btw, never found the "Losna Artemisia" >_<.

Strange story, but for me it's kinda of fun and different, so I though it'll be nice to share with you guys.

[Renala]

Renala was a name I created many, many years ago. A friend once told me(On ffxi) that it was a flower or something.. Lunaria I researched some.. and I sadly don't remember what flower it was, but I was looking at flowers and greek/latin/something meaning to them. One of them lead me to Honesty/Forgetfulness. Its greek/latin name was "Lunaria". I know both are strong aspects of myself the player.. and thus, I decided on "Renala Lunaria".
