So? Lots of people don't have 1080p monitors. Mine isn't. Better for it to be smaller and not require scrolling to view the whole image.

I mean really... is this that big of a deal? I'm happy to get any images. I don't care if the text on the hud isn't legible, that's not what the shot is trying to show you. I sure wouldn't be upset for them to release bigger images, but as long as they keep the media flowing, I'm not really too concerned with the pixel dimensions of the screenshots.

Any web browser scales an image down to fit in the window regardless of the resolution when opening it in a new tab (which is all we are basically asking for), and it's not even 10 characters of code to do this manually on the website end.. Having something too big isn't a problem, but having something tiny and having to zoom in to see anything is annoying..

TBH I didn't think <1080p monitors even existed anymore.. I had to buy a new monitor recently and the only options at the store were over 20"+ 1080p monitors. Not to mention it is the price of a night out on the booz... So "lots of people"? I doubt it.

High resolution media looks better, emits a more positive image of the content when viewed on higher spec monitors, and quite simply takes no extra effort to make everyone happy.

The lack of desktop media is annoying. I have a folder of pixelated 1920x1080 screenshots of the CGI trailers and that's about it..

We aren't asking for gigantic desktop media as a whole... just pictures that are perhaps bigger then half the size of our iPhone :/

If you are on an internet connection that can't handle a decent quality image, then you shouldn't be playing a game on it.

That is kind of a stupid statement, you do not need a very large speed internet to play a game. you only need 250kbps to play any online game, as long is a good quality connection.

I use to play a lot on WoW with my 250kbps with good quality ping, so you just being a jerk here. Is like saying everyone in the world should have 10gbps speed or gtfo.

They most definitely do. Less developed parts of the world you can still find CRT monitors (and some old school gamers prefer them because they can supposedly produce more accurate colors or better gamma or whatever) My monitor is less than 2 years old with 1680x1050 native res.

My TV is less old than that and is 720p (But it's a small TV and at normal viewing distance, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference if it was 1080p).

If you kindly reread my post, I state that if you are unable to view a larger resolution image on your internet connection, you shouldn't be playing FFXIV on said internet connection.

It takes a much slower connection to fail to load a decent quality image (720p - 1080p)... I just came off a 256Kbps cap due to reaching a bandwidth cap last month.. While browsing speed is reduced, it certainly doesn't struggle loading a decent image.

Ok so you are a minority with a lower then average screen resolution. Your point? Why should this prevent those of us with standard 1080p (which is pretty much considered the "norm") be held back because a small group of you have lower resolution monitors?

I'm fine with them not being HD on the blogpost or in Letters but at least give us a link to the original sized picture. Because I'm pretty damn sure they were not taken in that resolution. That way everyone is happy... or should be at least.

Its probably so you can't go over the image with a fine tooth comb to see the reflection on the screen of YPs face looking to see if hes got something stuck in his teeth!...enhance........enhance...........................
