I love the XI/XIV time system, so I would have to say I am in favor of keeping it
But be nice to the OP. He has a right to feel that way and mention it to see how others feel. Thats the point to all this isn't it? the good, the bad and the ugly brainstorming of ideas? As adults, of course.

Ah, but will facing north-by-northeast at 2:45 a.m. while the moon is a waning crescent result in a 27% increase in your chances to synthesize HQ mythril ingots!? That is real the question! ~Fernehalwes~

This has to be one of the worst suggestions I've heard in months.
What if I can only play at night most days? am I only going to see eorzea in the moonlight? Never going to see the sun rising because I'd be asleep by then? Terrible idea

Usually when subjects are met with high levels of criticism/dislike, it tends to strike a note that maybe it is not a functional idea. I have to congratulate you on beating the odds and finding new angles to push an undesirable system on us.

It might happen to be in two places, since Yoshi said they will be renting servers for the regional servers.
They will be run by a third party company.

Aye, other developers do this as well. For Monster Hunter 3, CAPCOM runs the servers itself in Japan, but contracts with Nintendo to run them in the US.

Maybe you should try some games that use a 24hour clock before judging, as I said, other games have this and people don't complain about it in those games. So what if you spend more time in one period of the day than another? Is that really so horrible? The game looks beautiful no matter what time of day you're in. It's strange because usually people around here are all about sacrificing gameplay for realism. a 24 hour clock makes it feel more real and doesn't really sacrifice gameplay. Some games don't even have a day/night cycle at all and the areas are either arbitrarily light or dark, and people don't complain about that in those games either. Some games like EVE are set in space- Space is always dark. Is it unfair that the game is always dark when I log in?

It's fine though, they're not going to do this, apparently people like seeing the sun rise in set in the course of a few minutes. But It frustrates me that the only common complaint people have is one of "what if I can only log in at one time I always see the same thing." But these people forget that lots of games don't even have day/night cycles and you always see the same thing. As long as day/night doesn't have significant impact on game-play itself, I see this as but a minor issue. I understand where these people are coming from, but I feel like people are trying to make it sound worse than it really is while ignoring the conveniences of having only one time system to worry about to focus on the aesthetics.

Oh well. You win some, you lose some...

hmmm, no thanks, i would rather have the same eorzea time system. I enjoyed seeing mobs that spawned at night and not at day, i am hoping SE implement that uniqueness in 2.0 ( like ghost or zombies )

Another option would be "get rid of real time and just use eorzea time." Have NPCs say "come back tomorrow" if they mean next game day or "come back in a month' if they mean a real life day. It's just always bugged me that in any mention of time, under the current system they have to specify (Earth time) or (Eorzea time) after any mention of time passing. It's an immersion break, albeit a small one.

Not sure how easy it would be but they could maybe make it so time notifications can be toggled/filtered or perhaps have the npc refer to the current day "Come back once the Windsday is over" etc.

my answer is a very clear and firm NO
i don't think i have to elaborate the many reasons why in detail since they were all pointed out several times in the pages before
o)people forced to play in perpetual night/day
o)severely crippling any future possibility to make days and nights unique with nocturnal monsters and such
o)forcing people to play in a setting that is out of synch with their own if they are in a area not supported by local servers (australia)
    the list goes on

But since i made the effort of reading most of this thread so far i don't have to worry about this because the stance of the majority is very clear in this case:

the "Persuade by Force" option might be hard^^

Not every idea is a keeper

You have no idea how often on various XI forums and linkshell conversations where it's been an issue and I've had to ask "do you mean the next game day, or next real life day?"

But apparently I'm the only one who's ever had this frustration. That's fine. I figured that this bugged a lot of people, but apparently I was wrong.
Even if more would agree with you and shared in your frustration, it still doesn't change that it's not at all enough to sync to real time.

You're basically saying they should change it based on players being incapable in explaining pop conditions or mission triggers. That is not a problem with the system. That's a problem with the players.
