Devs: Do you have plans to reset the forums in the future?

Why not reset them back to normal? They can already read only without being a member of the forums, the fans are giving SE a second chance, so shouldn't SE gives all their fans a second chance as well? Do like Renen said and have them on a watch list, give them one or two strikes and that's that if they put themselves back on the ban list then that's where they belong.

While we're at it, let's empty the jails. Tear down the gates. Second chances for everyone! If one group of people don't have to accept their punishment, no group should!

Also I can't believe some of you guys really, has the FF community fallen so low that they can't condone a single second chance? Can't give people the benefit of the doubt? Even if most of them deserve it new game should come with new beginnings across the board no if, and, or but about it.

Every MMO community has it's faults but this is specifically the FFXIV community. They will chastise other FF fans simply because they play or enjoyed SE's other FF MMO, don't even question the integrity. Alerith has a point, if SE unbans people they didn't want around (hence banning in the first place) other companies may as well unban everyone who hacked or cheated "for a good cause" and may as well release everyone from jail since it's a form of punishment for breaking the rules and everyone deserves a second chance.

I get what you're trying to say but SE never did that for XI when they released CoP and ToAU (game changers.) They really shouldn't unban people just because the game is getting relaunched or it pretty much undermines the whole reason for having rules in the first place and having enforcers.

I'm sorry for your brother, but I am also not sorry.

I'm sorry that, as a loyal fan, he cannot access the forums.

At the same time I am not sorry. As bad as flamers and trolls are, you just can't be doing stupid shit. If he's old enough to be on the forums, then he's old enough to know the consequences of his actions. And he's old enough to know that he takes full responsibility for what he says here.


Whatever he did, he most likely hurt or offended someone. And of course, the Mods know what they're doing. They can't have people offending others on their official forums. That looks bad for the company and the community overall. Plus, it's not like they want to deal with any lawsuits. I know people will always find something to sue over.

They want a clean and friendly environment. That's the way it should be. There's guidelines and rules that you're supposed to be aware of before posting here. Your brother broke these rules, your brother experienced the consequences. Should have did it right the first time. Sorry if that's blunt.

For starters because SE did it for the re-release of a brand new game remade makes no sense why every other company should do this or that, that argument literally has no grounds whatsoever in this topic. Secondary it is completely different from XI because it is not an expansion it is not a continuation of a the same game in that manner. It is game that is rebuilt from the ground up forums that is going to follow suit and very likely as I previously stated going to have a new user agreement or a rehashed version of the previous.

Also why say no to my OG post? Let's break it down a little further and say what harm would it do? It could be beneficial and a good lesson learned for some where their input may be helpful, worst case scenario they make a silly or stupid comment or rage or do something again and get banned in the first week. It doesn't effect you negatively in anyways unless you happen to read the trash post and then that costs you all of 10 seconds.

My brother would like to chime in.

Honestly I got banned for calling someone a retard, it was a time ban I accepted it I made an error and let my temper get the best of me, it happens. A few days later when I get an email stating that my account has now been permanently banned for repeating the same issue with a date stamp but no further explanation I was at a loss. I hadn't been on and had no way to repeat any issue yet I get banned for no reason and when I email them and call them they tell me that they don't know any specifics and its all handled at corporate in Japan. They literally would not give me any definitive reason why I was banned. I feel cheated because I received no other warning prior and literally have seen people say things 100 time worse and they are still posting til this day.

I am a Legacy member I love the game and still want to be able to have a say in things an opinion. I feel my lesson has been learned twice over just keep calm it's just a forum. If things get heated or you get annoyed take a step back and reply later if at all. I don't think it's too much to ask considering I will remain a loyal fan though I guess I can always go the troll route and buy a second copy of the game to regain forum access but I don't liked being lumped together with gifthorse or that lot in general.
