    Internal Communications

    Hallo everybuddy,

    I was asking myself whether the communication for

    * Linkshells or
    * Free Companies

    will be improved for FFXIV:ARR, as there is no news on that topic yet (as far as I know).

    Regarding Linkshells:

    It has always been a problem in v1.x when you had multiple Linkshells, forcing you to switch every time you wanted to chat across different Linkshells.

    My suggestion:

    Using two keys (like the Macro System), triggering different Linkshell chats.

    (e.g. ALT GR + 1)

    Not sure if this is easy to implement technically, not enough base knowledge ;..(

    What do you think?

    /l2
    /l3
    /fc1
    /fc2
    /fc3

    dont need to macro it just make it easier. sure its doable.

    My only issue is how many can you have before you run out of colors to distinguish one ls/gc from another and then distinguish them from /sh /yell /tell /say /etc

    That's a good point!

    - In v1.x there was an option to use different colors for each LS.

    - The Linkshell crest was also displayed for the LS you currently had equipped.

    Yea, I think the /l /l2 etc commands are by the best idea. I don't know how many times I've tried that in the last year when I really started playing a lot. If I'm fighitng something, I don't want to be doing macro combos and shit then type. id rather just type, get my shit out, n get back to giving my current mission my attention. Idk about you, but I've hated dieing in MMOs since XI (pre-CoP).

    This is going to actually depend on who you're asking. You can have 20/20 vision, but the guy next to you might still see slight variances in colors that you do not. I do it to my brother all the time and he thought I was nuts. I proved that with photoshop though. Thanks Adobe. Lol.

    Yes that is a very good idea but dropping Linkshells must be taken into consideration too. Numbers changes may cause trouble.

    How about an interface that lets you lock numbers to Linkshells by personal choice?
    (in v1.x the max amount of Linkshells was 9 if I remember correctly)

    In my opinion, if you can't keep track of your Linkshells well enough to know which is which, you should probably stick to one! Also, if you drop a linkshell, all those after it would naturally get -1 to their slot, and those before it remain the same number.

    It is not particularly a question of differenciating one's Linkshells, more like avoiding mistells through different LS chats.

    But yeah.

    =============

    Also adding that if I remember correctly, players can only join one Free Company at a time.
    That erases the discussion on FC chat.

    What I always imagined was an overlay that you can open while you're in FFXIV.
    Every Linkshell automatically gets a Lodestone sub-Forum (obviously invsibile to others) and a DKP System like site which can be opened over the Linkshell Menu.

    I had keymapped switching different linkshells to Ctrl+F1, F2, etc. It worked out pretty well.
