    Just an idea

This is something I have yet to see and I feel would make the gaming experience just a little better. The idea is to put voice chat in the game. Not like the chat programs that we have now, with party and private chat. This would be open chat just like real life. So if you are in the town square and you talk anyone near you could hear. And if you are outside the same would apply. Since people like the idea of fantasy you could add the ability to change your voice, making it higher or lower or even different altogether. Last would be some voice recognition. If I say “jump for joy” my toon should jump then go into a joy motion.

It is just a thought, and I feel it would give a little something to the game.

Yes very interesting. I feel it will be important to merge PS3 and PC. It would also give an edge to FFXIV to have an open chat environment. Hearing Leroy Jenkins being shouted in a dungeon would be epic. Short of the loss of experience versus gear damage there seems to be little that is setting the FF series apart any more. I do wish FFXIV would have the loss of experience like FFXI had. Just a little pain with your game play, like paying for your levels with blood and a few tears.

Believe me, having to get your gear repaired all the time is pretty painful.

so true, when all your stuff breaks its a huge hassle at least in 1.0
even with all crafts at 50 i would sometimes just npc repair out of frustration

Ohh my thread of hell comes back!

Anyhow, in that same thread it's reminded that Yoshi has disregarded the integrated voice chat in FFXIV already for the time being so...

Still, I think it would be awesome too... maybe in a future expansion or game...

They said no to voice chat sorry they said due to JP about harassment, language barrier and no translate, They would have to talk to Sony to find a way to make it work. simple version of it all would be cost way to much money for something people wont end up using like in wow very small % of people use it and for SE it would cost more to find a way to make it work cross ps3/pc

PS3 users can use there smart phone and download the app or use a laptop to talk on TS,mumble, vent if they don't have a laptop or smart phone that ok they just have to find a ls that don't make you use them to listen there a lot that log on vent, mumble,ts and they still type everything and no one really talks so that not a big problem.

maybe one day they would add it but i still don't see the point people never going to use it,.

Wouldnt all the traffic from voice kill the connection? I dont know you guys who have great connection, but everytime I log with skype/vent on, I always get DC
    Not everyone have great connection

Since people like the idea of fantasy you could add the ability to change your voice, making it higher or lower or even different altogether.
Then what the purpose of choosing a specific voice in character creation?

Last would be some voice recognition. If I say “jump for joy” my toon should jump then go into a joy motion.
    Purely cosmetic. more content pls

It is the emersion that I would like to see more of. Yes content does that as well as the avatar/player interface. In FFXI very little was on the screen. The scrolling chat log is one of the biggest space eaters.
