Indeed, opinions are like assholes.
Ah, alright. This, I can agree with. I only disagreed with completely removing it from everything like you suggested at first, but it seems like your opinion has changed a bit after all. It'd be nice if they made things work that way. Then our views are not as far apart as you might think.
I don't simply want to see movement locking added and removed from this or that- I want the timing and duration of the lock itself to be assigned based on the moments during the action where being able to change or break the motion would be a physical unlikelyhood- Not simply turn the lock on or off based on the specific action.
e.g. you wind up your weapon for a special attack. during this breif moment before you actually strike the enemy, you can still move and cancel the attack (or if not cancel, reposition). Once the attack has been delivered, it is reasonable to be able to move before animation comes to a complete stop. In other words, the lock is arbitrarily designed, rather than simply tied directly to the animation. That is OK with me- It is only unacceptable to have all actions freeze you from the first frame of the animation to the last.
Well, that, I agree with as well. It was pretty dumb, and as I also said before, that falls into the stuff that I consider animation locks to be simply pointless and stupid: self buffs or animations such as a simple wave of your hand to cast a spell. One more time for the love of god. The animation lock people had complaints about was not the one during animations, it was the one that locked you down for 2 secs after you cast a spell or did any action hence why using a buff like Keen flurry vs coincounter could have been fatal.
All I've said I disagree with in this entire thread is the complete removal of animation locks from absolutely everything, which is what was being suggested at first.

Geez, why is it that certain people insist that those didn't like that battle mechanic must want to remove any and all kinds of animation lock from any and all games? I mean, are they just exaggerating to try to make their own point look good? It's just... stupid. L2READ, for Twelve's sake!
Uh... because you did mean just that. All I could read was how evil and pointless animations locking you in place were in any and all situations. Just reread your past posts.

Also the other thing people had an complaint about was being locked during during the start of an casting. Like you start casting thunder and could not move until the spell was almost half done casting. No one wants to be moving during steel cyclone or simian thrash, but I see chaos thrust is a ok ws to be able to move with cause it's something a lancer should be able to do,weapon is an extension of your arm and you should be able to move during most attacks.
I did. I don't recall ever saying all animation lock should be removed from all games.
Please quote where I did. This should be amusing. lol
...Have I even been talking about "all games"? You seem to be the one trying to exaggerate what I've said. I did use the usage of it in other games as an example, but I was only referring to my opinion of it's removal in this one game. Now you're just trying hard to make me look bad.
I don't recall this happening to me on my BLM. O_o I could move around as soon as I hit a spell if I wanted. The thing is, it locked me from casting something else right away since the swirling light animation thingy would still go on for a couple of seconds (and that was due to the huge latency on movement), but it didn't lock me from moving. The animation lock happened towards the end, when the casting animation went off (and the pointless one or two seconds you did mention afterwards).
