Oh God, people want the game to go backwards now. Thank God Yoshida knows better than to listen to the chronic complainers.

We'll take it into consideration.™
Animation lock and global cooldown are both pieces of crap. No need to go that deep with it, they suck and we dont need it.
What's funny is that those who like or have no problem with animation lock swear that those who hate it only hate it because of the Ifrit fight or because "they haven't learned their character". Ifrit was never a problem for me, even with animation lock. I cold win it with my eyes closed. Probably the easiest primal battle. And I knew m character inside and out, making me among the deadliest of damage dealers as well as among the most efficient healers. I just don't like being rooted while an animation finishes, with no option to at least cancel it if I want to move again. It's obnoxious, stupid, and I'm glad the devs agree with me on that and decided to nuke it's existence. Good riddance.
The problem isn't animation lock, it's the fact that we faced battles that seemed to be designed without animation lock (or lag) in mind.
I'd prefer that the lag and battle issues be fixed rather than the animation lock. A DRG that can run around while executing chaos thrust will look ridiculous (even if they separate upper and lower body animations)
If the battles and lag are fixed, we won't care about the lock anymore and the whole game will look/play better.
Speak for yourself. I never thought lag was a problem with animation lock. I just hate it because I think it's stupid. The problem isn't animation lock, it's the fact that we faced battles that seemed to be designed without animation lock (or lag) in mind.

I have yet to see this...didn't even happen in basic alpha build footage why should later? The problem isn't animation lock, it's the fact that we faced battles that seemed to be designed without animation lock (or lag) in mind.

Can't wait for the next excuse:
"Omg my shit was on GCD I couldn't do anything."
I didn't hate it, I only disliked the way the game handled animations in general, far too easy to kill the animations which glitches up your display at times due to the interface relying more on serverside than client.

sorry... using a Weapon Skill -> locked in a place for 3-5 seconds ... run after enemy.. -> use weapon skill -> be frozen on the ground for 3-4 secs again..
fluent, fun and speed paced combat looks different. its not all about lag and low framerates that drop the fun down.. its also about an animation lock which roots you everytime.
what is your point? the reason for animation lock is to keep better animations.. but do you say that the battle animations in 2.0. look less good without animation lock than the animations in 2.0.??
lets compare:
does this looks exciting to you really?!
Ifrit 1.0.
or this more?
2.0. trailer
its up to you. and almost EVERYBODY out of these forums are saying that even 2.0. gameplay looks to boring "looks like the player is rooted in a place while casting etc.".. what would they say to a 2.0. final fantasy which has still animation lock?
i think they would say "god that looks like the most boring crap ever seen in 10 years of my MMorpg career. the dev team seems not to be able to programme a fluent game"
They are the new Tanakas.
