No more singing and stuff please SE. I don't think the majority of your fans likes that.
I was reading that big writeup about the history of FF the other day and it was interesting to find out that they spent a mind-blowing $100 million on their advertising campaign for FF7. I don't exactly expect this for a game that has a shaky future, but they will have to do something to attract other MMO players and FF fans alike.

The End of an Era trailer has gotten some people's hopes up, but with the way many MMOs are shifting away from P2P for various reasons, many people aren't willing to give ARR a chance due to that reason alone. I've read comments in other forums about if it were F2P or B2P that they'd be willing to give it a shot. Obviously this isn't something the majority of the playerbase wants, (or SE for that matter) but it's just a sad fact. This compounded with the failure of the first launch are a couple of factors that contribute to people that bought the game originally not coming back.

As others have mentioned, once the game goes into open beta when the NDA is no longer in effect would be the prime time to launch their global marketing campaign. Obviously it's easier for them to publicize this in Japan being that it's their native language, and they seem to be doing just that with the slew of interviews they give, both written and televised.
