In FFXI whenever people inspected your gear you would be notified in the log.

I like it when I know people are looking at my equipment. ^.~

I noticed this was absent in FFXIV, should it be brought back?

There is a Examines you feature in ARR well in @ but not sure if it work's like in XI, where it notified you.

This would have to be an Optional Notification that has to be turned on. One of the most obnoxious things that ever happened in FFXI was when people freaked out and started /shouting because you checked their equipment. I'd really rather not have it abused, but I also like to know when people are checkin me out! ~.^

Funny thing about that... you could filter the examines message in XI. It was in the config. Anyone who ever complained about it was stupid as far as I was concerned for this exact reason. I filtered it out myself. Done deal, no complaints about spam ever.

Back in XI the JP were actually really annoyed by this. You could literally be black listed, kicked from jp groups and sent mean tells for examining people><

I can always generally tell when someone is looking at my character. Just look at the head animation. I wouldn't mine the examines you text though.

There is 'Gear Score' in ARR...... Item level, the same thing WoW put in place that goes along with cross-server random dunegon matcher, and pretty much eliminated the need for the 3rd party gearscore addon.

I think it would be cool to see an extra slight head scanning when they check you, I think the animation is enough though - no need for text.

Or at least put a threshold on it so there is no spam. I thought it was funny when people /shy or /blushed when you examined them. I'd go out of my way to chase them all over jueno.. lol

What if they add a "hidden" function, that people can turn on if they don't want to be examined?

But this whole "don't look at my gear" thing, feels very elementary school-ish. Surprised people didn't start asking "do you have a staring problem?"
