Scared about ARR

first world problems. once people are scared for video games, you know something in the world needs to change.

Okay, sorry, but I just gotta pine in here for a sec.

This is a board about FFXIV. Here we will talk about XIV and our satisfaction/concern about it. We are not here to talk about issues like the fiscal cliff or hunger in Africa. If you want to help make the world a better place, there are plenty of charities in need of donation and volunteers, but this isn't the place to discuss it.

Being scared for the future of ARR does not mean that it's the only or even the biggest concern a person has. People are capable of caring about many issues at different levels.

Now lets get back to patting each other on the back.

Just read that Tera is going free to play in the US and EU, and people are commenting that they give ARR from 4 to 8 months after release to follow the same route as all the other MMO's the last years...

I fear for the mindset of the population, not about the quality of the game, that may force it's demise...

I completely agree. People on these forums should be willing to give constructive criticism without totally bashing the game. It's painful to watch, and I think if XIV fails at all it'll be their fault. We fans need to make sure that the outsiders stay informed, and let them know that XIV came a long way after launch.

I wish this was the case. But many people in 11 are highly critical of 14 ONLY WITH INITIAL RELEASE INFORMATION. Many people I've spoken to are incredibly closed minded, judging the game on the leveling system and crafting systems that have long since been changed. They are also under the assumption that, even after all the changes we say, 14 still tanked horribly just because the 1.0 servers went down. Me and one of my friends have tried to talk some sense into people like this, it's almost pointless and we just get written off as "fan boys."

People outside of FFXI are just as ignorant/misinformed(which of the 2 categories they fall under varies per individual) about it. I had some dude trying to argue with me telling me that ff14 failed and that ARR and FF14 had nothing to do with each other. He constantly referenced the 2010 review as a defense for how he thought game STILL was when the final save took place, despite having never played the game once. Some people are just way too close minded and there's really nothing you can do besides laugh at them and leave them to their COD/LOL .

GW2 another Free too play, excellent game too, been having a blast playing it. No stress at all, no drama, nothing like 1.0 was...

...GW2 was awful... people farming a single event over and over... dungeons which took no skill and was basically throwing bodies at a mob like 100 times until it dies... pvp is boring because you spent like 90% of your time running to places and ontop of that the story was just so god awful...

SQEX is too closed-minded to go F2P. FFXI's still making money somehow. They think ARR will magically have a great playerbase (lol). Yet let's look at Sega and PSO2. F2P with cash services and it is making boatloads of cash.

perhaps i don't want my final fantasy 14 world filled with silly concerns? Where is the charity for me to donate for that? Seems I'm in the right place to comment on it, no?

Perhaps you dont like complaints about the poor graphic qualities of the grass? Maybe, just the same, I'm tired of reading how scared people are about the low possibility of AAR going F2P?

If I simply said that this thread was RIDICULOUS would you have commented the same? Because that's essentially what I was trying to point out.
