Hate this harping on "first world problems" like we should be ashamed that we don't live in squalor, and have to worry about some guerilla taking our food.
Hey! guess what! All the posts on this forum are First-world problems...
I doubt the original post is literally scared in the sense that you WANT to assume he/she means.

2. Scared means scared, if you say your scared, then thats what it means, if your not scared, dont tell people your scared.
3. People, please find new topics.. there is like 5 billion F2P topics on this game already. Try talking about... Miqote butts for example.

Back on topic: Have to agree that if anything, FFXI will go F2P first before this does. Or at least a scaled down version of it.

Okay, sorry, but I just gotta pine in here for a sec.
This is a board about FFXIV. Here we will talk about XIV and our satisfaction/concern about it. We are not here to talk about issues like the fiscal cliff or hunger in Africa. If you want to help make the world a better place, there are plenty of charities in need of donation and volunteers, but this isn't the place to discuss it.
Being scared for the future of ARR does not mean that it's the only or even the biggest concern a person has. People are capable of caring about many issues at different levels.
Now lets get back to patting each other on the back.

perhaps i don't want my final fantasy 14 world filled with silly concerns? Where is the charity for me to donate for that? Seems I'm in the right place to comment on it, no?Okay, sorry, but I just gotta pine in here for a sec.

Perhaps you dont like complaints about the poor graphic qualities of the grass? Maybe, just the same, I'm tired of reading how scared people are about the low possibility of AAR going F2P?
If I simply said that this thread was RIDICULOUS would you have commented the same? Because that's essentially what I was trying to point out.

There's enough evidence to support both theories on whether or not it will be free to play in the future, but pointing out that the world has much bigger issues isn't a reasonable distraction. There will always be issues bigger than entertainment, but that doesn't mean we should just sit on our asses and let whatever happens happen. If we did, we'd still be stuck with 1.0. It should never be unreasonable to question a company on the direction they're taking, and fearing that they might become f2p is hardly out of the question considering the fact that most modern MMO'S have at least some form of f2p experience. And you can reflect that on the direction ARR is taking with its miming of such MMO'S. Yes it will have original content and world, but seriously, what theme park MMO doesn't?perhaps i don't want my final fantasy 14 world filled with silly concerns? Where is the charity for me to donate for that? Seems I'm in the right place to comment on it, no?

Now, does this mean ARR is going to definitely be a f2p game? No. Both XI and DQ10 are living fine on a p2p model. However, you can't rule out the possibility that the restructuring might also require a change in payment plan down the road.
