I too wondered about Thancred's hair. As for Yda, some women are shaped that way. It's called the 'mound of venus'. It has to do with more estrogen, so I guess Yda is very feminine despite what she appears.

I would have guessed the eye marking is the legacy marking too. But I would think they would put that on the adventurers that time-shifted in as well if that's the case.

My theory on the time-goggles is that they're artificial whispers, or whatever it is that let's us see into people's the past.
