Thancred is definitely older. Like you said we can't really judge the others because the other races age a lot slower. Elezen and Lalafell especially.Do the Circle members look 5 years older? I mean, an easy way to tell if they got a lift from Lou is to see if they age. If they "LOOK" older, then we can say they didn't go to the void with us (those in the Void don't age remember).
Unfortunately, only the Hyurs would be the best race to decide this as the other races may not show much aging in 5 years. And one of the Hyurs has half her face covered, so that leaves us with good ol' Thancred.
Does he "look" 5 years older? To me, he kinda sorta does or at least he looks different than in 1.0 CG. But SE could be using different CG than in 1.0. I dunno.

I... want... to... play... now...!! Loved the movie!
Am I mistaken in assuming that only the key players in the immediate path of Bahamut's Megaflare (i.e. Carteneau Flats/Mor Dhona) were warped out of harm's way? That would explain the remainder of the Circle possibly being older, especially Thancred, and NPCs carrying on.
so you keep saying, its rather smug of you. i dont care. all subjective mate, even the industry it aint a science.Like I said, this was my industry for many years. Just like people who like what they do, I enjoy informing people about it. No need to make it personal. Besides, you were the one that got technical of where teasing footage should be in. I just helped out in clarifying the points, purposes and reason for what is where and why.
And like I said, that's fine if you don't like it. Just don't try to confuse people with improper use of terms of the trade (industry jargon). Lol, jargon rubbish. You know, technically, things like wheel alignment and suspension calibration is car jargon. You would can be in real trouble if you asked for a wheel alignment when you really needed rotate your tires. So jargon is quite important.
OK so call me slow, but I didnt notice that "Lou" - when he teleports everyone shoots off the symbol of Althyk, who is the surveyor of change and space and god of time.
I'm sure everyone else noticed it, but it was an easter egg for me :P
He looks the same, honestly. The only one I could tell aged just a tad, was the midlander from the first FMV to how we see him in the ARR footage.Do the Circle members look 5 years older? I mean, an easy way to tell if they got a lift from Lou is to see if they age. If they "LOOK" older, then we can say they didn't go to the void with us (those in the Void don't age remember).

Thancred and the other circle members are not a good choice to use for comparisons, because they have that whole "ageslowly/possiblyimmortal" thing going on (for more info, dig through the CG MIdlander thread)

There was a narrative in the new footage, but the narrative itself was just very very short. Basically it goes, "after the Louisoix fade to white, the world has now changed. The city states/CoK members are still here but now Odin and Behemoth roam around. The midlander party (us) now teleport into this new world and ride off to start our new adventure (beginning of ARR game)."Thats where we disagree. i believe an opening movie sets the scene, begins the story, initiates the plot. None of that was present here.
I replied to a post about teasing footage, not about the opener being a "Teaser". Teasing footage could mean anything,
a Chocobo taking a dump could be a teaser, but that doesnt belong in an opener.
Short version - "we teleport in the future after things have changed and start our game."
So while it seems very trailer like because the new footage narrative is so short, it is actually a narrative story. The trailer like footage (Eorzean Alliance/city states with CoK members/Odin/Behemoth) IMO is more accurately described as a montage to introduce to us the new state of Eorzea, although it does also serve as a "trailer/teaser" to the new main storyline that the midlander party is riding off to. It's all just a segway for us to start playing the game and experience the new storyline after all.
See, there you go using personal attacks again. I apologize if stating industry standards, as well as standards that the majority of the world (and it seem, in this forum as well) uses isn't to your liking. But it is important to have a common definition of what things are and aren't otherwise there would be no advancement on anything.
And yes, it is actually science. Teasers and trailers come from the science of art and advertisement. If the techniques weren't proven, we wouldn't bother using it:

I don't think it ever implies the NPCs in ARR don't remember the End of an Era events. The new footage of the city states shows that after 5 years have passed, wounds are beginning to heal and people are living their lives in happiness again. Besides the fact it would be silly if no one knows why they're rebuilding their cities, in the alpha levequest video, the NPC at the end of the second quest says that the reason you killed the slugs is because they were eating flowers laid at Tam-Tara Deepcroft, a resting place for those who died in the Umbral Era.What if after the incident with end of the era, the 12 or some other force which we don't know of at the moment. Erased the memory's of all survivors. Explaining why the NPC's don't seem to have any recollection. As well those steam punk amulets that the hero NPC's have could be what protected them from what ever happened so they keep their memories...
