PlayStation 3 version: Why Bother?

I know a lot of people are gonna like get ready to attack me, but bring it.

"PC Gaming" Now think about this, name one PC exclusive that fully utilize what PC can do over consoles. The only game was Crisis, and we all know how bad that game flopped in terms of sales. But, that was one game.

Now the true power of a PC, you don't see it within it exclusives, you only see that with third party titles. If you have Battlefield 3 on PC as oppose Battlefield 3 on consoles, you'll see a difference in graphics, and 64 players vs 32 players. People will see the differences there but other than that you don't see anything else.

Why is that? Here is the answer to that.

Consoles has taken the online market to the mainstream. So the next and last thing PC have is the mods they have on certain games and the fact they have the graphical edge when it comes to third parties.

Now, the PS4 and the nextbox will most likely have the functionality of an operating system that you get with a PC. Now what happens to consoles exclusives or games like WoW on PC? They may very well end up on consoles. Activision and Blizzard, they love money so you don't think they'll want a piece of that pie in the next gen?

The Steam Box. Steam is in fact a huge factor in PC gaming, because you can get all your games cheaper than buying the disc version. Now the Steam Box, that is suppose to be a PC, for the living room. Now if a PC was so much better than a console, then why would they to go out their way to make a PC for the living room and for your big screen TV so you can have that PC like experience? That is basically what a console already is but with more mainstream appeal right?

The fact that the PC world is trying to come into where consoles is, I think is good for the industry, but it also shows that PC doesn't have many exclusives at all to set it apart from its competition.

The advantages the PC once had, is all gone.

After only reading the OP, I've got a couple things to say.

Yes, the PS2 is finally being phased out. However, they adopted 360 compatability along the way, so they still have XI on a console. I bet, if XI is still going way down the line, they'll release it on a future console as well. They have no intention of letting the game die. I predict that, along with all the UI redesigns that they have scheduled this year, some time in the future they'll improve the graphics. For sure. No doubt about it. Square has stated that they wanted to update the graphics multiple times. From what I've heard, XIV was originally a major update for XI, graphics and all, but they decided to make it a new game, blahblahblah, rushed, blahblah, 1.0. (It probably makes them cringe that XI is still stuck in year 2001 graphics, compared with all their games that they have out.) Now that they've basically killed off their PS2 limitation. Yeah, people will still be playing it on PS2, and I'm sure they'll figure something out. I wouldn't doubt it if they stopped letting ps2 users even log on if it got to that point! Maybe give them a free copy of either PC or 360 version. Why not? I'm sure the ps2 userbase is extremely small compared to back then.

So, it's probably the same with XIV. they're releasing it on ps3. Maybe it'll be on the next gen console as well? We don't even know if there is or isn't a new console this year. or next year. We just don't know, rumors aside. If they have plans for putting it on the next gen console, they have no way of telling us that until that console is announced first. But it's likely to be developed on future consoles, just like XI has / will be.

Good thing PC's can do more than just play games then eh? Like programming, graphics design, web design, word processing, and so on. There will always be people making games for the PC. Most games for consoles are developed using a PC. I think PC's and consoles each have their place, each can do what the other does, to a limited extent, but as technology evolves the two might become one. What i like over consoles for gaming is i can upgrade my computer, can't really do that to the same extent on a console.

I can't imagine when my PS3's Cell processor goes die, there's no possible to change it to a new one. You have to call Sony and pay them to fix it. >.<

whut this about PC gaming is dying? Don't cha know that PC is getting smaller and stronger? They are called "Laptop" and soon in future, PC will be more mobile that you can ever know.. and that age who ever has a lot/bigger PC is more likely a HACKER!

1. They promised the ps3 version
2. any new hardware announcement will be followed by a lengthy tiem before the hardware is released on the marker. Both MS and SOny have development in progress (lets hope sony get the memory basics down this time) but they won' be released anytime soon.

The PS3 version offers a way to log on I nthe bedroom or place without a pc. Even tho I have a high end rig in my living room, and a top line laptop that played the alpha perfect that I can hook up in the bedroom, some need a cheap alternative.
