if you want bring us task manager with out crashing the game, use key code ctrl-shift-esc, this ill work the same way the old ctrl-alt-del worked in xp and 98. That should stop most of your directx problems, there are still a few, but that is nothing i can fix from here.

This does not prevent the error on my system; unless you meant to do it in Windowed mode, which doesn't present an error in any way.
